Rejected. Oh well. Life will go on — it always does.

The original charter said “the white inhabitants of Houston, and the state of Texas”. the former was voided over 50 years ago and I don’t believe the latter is present either.

Actually, I think it’s actually harder for Texas folks to get in these days. They’re trying hard to decrease those numbers. It’s just a really really really big (and populous) state, and it’s a well-known school close to home for many.

UT here I come :)

yay I got in hahaaa

Our youngest daughter is in… CS major - 2210 SAT (780 Math II, but yucky Physics SATII)…lots of EC’s & leadership, summer university level research, volunteering, homeschooled with only 2 APs, but 45+ hours of CC at a 4.0 (4 semesters of calculus, 3 semesters of programming, honors program, etc)…and 2 siblings already at Rice. Keeping it in the family. She’s pretty excited!

Didn’t get in…oh well; I was expecting it.

Congratulations to those who did get in! :)

And good luck to all who applied, whether rejected or accepted. Remember, it’s what you do at college that matters not which college you go to. (Of course, Rice will still remain an awesome school for me!)

Everyone here has a great chance of doing something great with their lives, so cheer up!

C’est la vi!

Again, good luck to everyone in the future!!

MY son got in

my son got in and was given merit scholarship, not from texas and we are middle eastern

My daughter did not get in.

I just wonder whether the engineering school is hard to apply?? The rejected letter indicated the accepted percentile is really horrible!!!

Is it really one out of sixteen applicants that is accepted? That is much lower than their “official” acceptance rate of around 17%.

Did u apply for Engineering school?

Yes, I did apply for engineering. I was accepted, but if it’s true (that 1/16 are accepted), then my acceptance must have been a miracle.

I asked because there was another post on the previous page mentioning the same thing:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/16714588-post258.html

It can’t just be for the school of engineering, as the post above was for the school of architecture. I guess it must apply to the school in general.

I looked up letters from the past, and they also mention an acceptance rate of 1/16.

Forwarding from my dd:

There’s a new facebook group for those of you who have been admitted: https://facebook.com/groups/Rice2018/

Congrats to everyone accepted! And good luck to any deferrals!

If you can, could you please chance me to see if I may see you on campus 2018??
