has anyone heard anything yet?
So guys I called the admissions to ask about the schedule of releasing the decisions and a lady told me that decisions are released whenever they are ready meaning there’s no schedule so it could be released Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday or anytime there’s not a set pattern. So I guess each day is a possibility of hearing from rice.
Has anybody else heard anything??? This wait is nerve wrecking…
No nothing.
I am pretty sure they will reject me so i don’ really care
I would say Rice does have tricky admission strategy, always showing the best part to the outsiders. As a current engineering student I would say it is my worst choice! Tip for anyone coming to Rice: DO NOT COME!
@HellRice may I ask why you feel this way? Thanks
ugh!! Rice!!! seriously what is going on!! two weeks and no decision release yet!! I’m starting to get really fraustrated with the lack of consistency!!!
has anyone heard anything at all?!!
Nope… pretty annoying
@ab1omo23 i agree it really is. The most annoying part is that when you call to inquire they just give you a vague answer
I think UT Austin is doing a better job of releasing their decisions faster, even though they’ve got more applicatn
I’m currently reading current student reviews of the school and some aren’t impressive at all.
Just let you know, last year the first round was at the end of April and the second round was at the end of May. There was about one month gap between the two rounds and I did not hear anyone got in on the second round.
I’d guess that it depends on how many from the first round of transfer admits accept their offers. That tells them how many spaces they have left for the second round. Again, just a guess, though.
Anyone got in but not planning to go?
It’s not that simple, @Miyamoto. All schools plan that some of their admitted students will turn them down, so they always admit more students than they have space for. Space becomes available only when more students than anticipated turn down their offers. Based on past years’ statistics, Rice can reasonably expect that at least a third of admitted transfer students will not accept their offers. So even if 10 students come on CC and say they decided not to attend Rice, that may or may not make any difference. There’s no way to know. You just have to hope for the best!
@dodgersmom so lets say hypothetically 100% of the first admitted batch accept the offer, does that mean that the rest of the applicants are automatically rejected since there’s no space? or there’s space either way for a second batch?
@newbee18 - There’s just no way to know. It depends on whether they planned on a 100% yield, or only 50%, and whether they were holding back other empty spaces . . . there are just too many variables. I’m sure the director of enrollment has a plan, but there’s no way of knowing what it is. All I was saying, and this is true for any school, is that one person turning down an offer does not automatically result in an open seat for someone else. I’d strongly suggest not trying to second-guess the process. You’ll make yourself crazy . . . and it won’t have any effect on the outcome. I know it sucks, but you pretty much just have to wait and see. At least you know you’re not alone.
since decisions aren’t out yet do we send in our final grades transcript or no?
