***Rice University RD Class of 2019 Discussion***

@gettingaclue I’m pretty sure that shows up for everyone who sent their CSS Profile to a school that uses IDOC. I wouldn’t read too much into it. I was wait listed at a school that requested IDOC.

@kuleczka - dang! Thanks :slight_smile:

Does rice send letters or are decisions posted online?

@belgiumapp online!

Thank you! I’m so nervous!

Do they usually give a heads up, or do they just post? Like is an email sent telling applicants to check the portal

We all are haha. But we’ll know any day now, stay strong. Which reminds me…it’s time for a new thread!

I don’t have a request for IDOC even though Esther is showing that my CSS was completed. Esther does show that I haven’t submitted IDOC, but I don’t have a request from Rice on the CollegeBoard site.

@Srabookworm I would call them (Rice) asap. This financial aid business is so annoying and tricky, but it has to be done if we want funds.

Also, sorry for a double post, but do any of y’all know if it’s possible to view the documents we’ve uploaded to IDOC? I called because my custodial tax return hadn’t gone through, and the lady said she would file an escalation form and to expect a change on Monday, but now I’m thinking I may have uploaded mine twice :confounded: can anyone help me? Also, now it says mine, my dads, and my moms returns are missing. :tired_face:

I had the same issues with IDOC, college board was saying I had not sent in certain documents but Rice had received them. On your ESTHER portal (the one from Rice finacial aid) are the documents received?

No, my custodial tax return is the only thing missing. I’m wondering if at this point I can just fax it in to my schools. I’m really worried this might effect my aid as far as how much I get!

Don’t worry about it–when I was worried I wouldn’t get a certain IDOC document until after the deadline, I e-mailed the Rice financial aid office to see how/if this would have an affect on my aid if I were to be accepted. (nonetheless I still managed to upload it in time)

If you turn it in late, it will simply delay the deliverance of the FA award to you, it will not reduce the amount of aid you get.

@Ctesiphon okay, thank you so much! I hope that holds true for most of my schools.

Yeah I think we’re all nervous…I’m just afraid my sat score will do me in :frowning:

About the importance of ranking- what if my school does not rank?

I can’t say for sure. I do know that for schools that do not rank, universities often construct a “pseudo” class rank based on the GPA distribution of applicants from your high school. How this “pseudo” class rank is used in the admissions process I do not know, but I would imagine it would be used in a more holistic manner when evaluating your file than would the raw class rank at schools that do rank, which ultimately determines if our application is to be seriously reviewed (within top 10%) or taken as a joke (lower than top 10%)

anyone got a convinced decision release date and time?

@LightYagami0519 I feel like I’ve said this a million times, but I’ll say it until I can’t anymore! We don’t have an official one and most likely won’t; the expected date is either the 23rd or 24th.

Do you guys believe that Rice is holistic when viewing applicants? Or do stats play a greater factor?
