I'd just like to start a thread for us waitlisted applicants for general questions and stuff.
I know these questions don't have answers yet, but they do for previous years.
How many applicants get waitlisted, and then accept spots on the waitlist?
How many spots are ultimately freed for waitlist applicants?
When is the earliest we can hear back about our updated status?

I was waitlisted. I accepted the spot but I am wondering if I should really pursue this or just be happy with the offer I have (wustl). I always imagined myself at rice and getting waitlisted was kind of heartbreaking.

I’m in your boat, but I’m going to do whatever I can to get admitted. I have a couple “notable awards” I can update them on and I also want to reiterate my interest in the Rice. Not hearing back until may will be horrible though.

Do you have to pay to be Waitlisted? And if in the mean time you accept a school offer and later get accepted at rice will the deposit be refunded??i just want to make sure because people are telling me to think over before accepting and it’s making me wonder if there’s something more to accepting Waitlisted that I don’t know about.

Cate and Thacher…ocean, mountains and warm sun just a step away from your door!

You don’t have to pay to be waitlisted, but I’m not sure about a school refunding the deposit… I THINK that’s nonrefundable, but may vary from school to school.

Does anyone know if stating other colleges you were accepted into is “acceptable” on a waitlist update? I was accepted into other colleges (like johns hopkins for ex.) but would attend rice almost without a second thought if accepted from waitlist.

According to a post in this thread (<a href=“2012 Wait List Decisions--Please Add for Everyone's Benefit - #21 by dlisted - Parents Forum - College Confidential Forums”>2012 Wait List Decisions--Please Add for Everyone's Benefit - #21 by dlisted - Parents Forum - College Confidential Forums), some students were notified from the Rice waiting list as early as April 30.

According to Rice’s Common Data Set, in 2012-2013, 1402 out of 2304 applicants accepted a spot on the WL, and 52 of those enrolled.

Has anyone heard anything concerning the waitlist yet?

Hey, everyone. I applied regular decision and was also waitlisted. I was actually called yesterday by a Rcie admissions officer and got accepted off the waitlist! So they are informing people who are getting accepted extremely soon before May 1st so that they can get enrolled quickly. Hope that helps!
