Richmond Scholars Class of 2021

OK, I just called Admissions Office – notification goes out next week about Richmond Scholars finalists!

@luckymama64 Thanks for the update. The waiting is just so difficult!
@guineagirl96 Do you know how many finalists are typically chosen? Thanks!

@sourirjk there’s usually less than 100 finalists, further capped by designation. I don’t remember the exact distribution for all of them, but artist typically has 10-16 finalists for example.

Will RD semi finalists who do not advance be advised of admission with the email or do they have to wait until RD notification in March?

@acke0815, according to the woman I spoke with, everyone will be told something. We were laughing about the fact that she is a semi-finalist, but doesn’t know yet if she was admitted. The lady pulled up her record (I kind of didn’t want to say her name!), and lady said that when my daughter got her notification she would know more about her admission status. I don’t know what she meant by that. Good luck to everyone!

@luckymama64. Thank you for the response. Yes, best of luck to everyone

Should know something maybe Monday! I read you have till Feb. 17 to schedule your interview!

This may be a dumb question but can you only be a RS if you come in as a freshman? Can a, say, junior earn this distinction?

@cloudysmom Richmond Scholar is awarded exclusively to incoming freshmen. There’s no way to become one later. There are, however, various department and other scholarships you can get throughout your other years at UR, although they are worth a lot less (and usually only apply to one year).

@guineagirl96. Thanks! My D just got accepted yesterday, she didn’t qualify as a RS so I wondered if she could another year, but it is what it is, thanks for responding!

@cloudysmom Congratulations on your daughter’s acceptance! I imagine that brought a big smile to your faces after being upset over W&M. @sc00per88: just wondering where you found the info posted above? I hear the finalists may be notified in batches. Let’s plan to post here as we find out…this will be nervewracking.

@sourirjk. Thank you & yes, really helped her after the W& M heartache! Good luck to all of you waiting on RS! Just knowing you’re doing well enough to be in the serious running for it must be rewarding on its own!

I think it was richmond.scholars.edu
I’m having trouble finding it now. It was where they talked about the Skype interviews that will take place Feb 26 - march 3

@guineagirl96 Do you know if that’s true that all will be notified tomorrow? Thanks

@sc00per88 I also saw where interviews must be scheduled by the 17th so I expect my ds will hear either Monday or no later than Tuesday. Good luck to all! If you search for University of Richmond Scholars Finalist, you will find the page with the specifics for finalists.

Thanks @crazym0m. Here is the link:

@elena13 unfortunately I have no idea. I do know notifications go out this week, but know nothing about specific days.

It seems likely that notifications will have to be emailed today or tomorrow! I would imagine that most semifinalists get accepted even if they are regular decision? I bet they will email notifications late afternoon or early evening.

Last year, my son was notified as a finalist on Friday the 20th. Perhaps they will notify earlier in the week this year. Also, he didn’t end up getting a Richmond Scholarship - so maybe his late notification was indicative of something. Keep an eye on Twitter and periodically search for Richmond Scholarship - seeing the recipients post their good news was how we found out almost a full week prior to formal notification that he didn’t get one of the major Scholarships.

I called and they said “by Friday the 17th”
I’m feeling impatient!
