A friend's son received a letter last month saying his stats put him in consideration for the Richmond Scholarship. He will receive a letter in early March if he is a candidate for one of 50 full tuition scholarships.

Does anyone know anything about these panel interviews? What guestions are asked, how long it takes-? Any details are greatly appreciated because this scholarship makes a difference to whether he attends.

Yeah, I got that letter, too, but it's not your stats that put you in consideration--it's the date that you apply for admission (before December 15). I'm hoping the next letter comes sometime soon...

thanks shana, m,m,m, am confused why stats would not be an important factor in awarding 50 Richmond scholarships, which are substantial awards.

Are you suggesting that all students who applied before Dec 15th received a letter saying their credentials make them eligible for the Richmond Scholarship?

I'm not saying that stats aren't important, but I'm saying that stats are not what gets you into the preliminary pool--I'm sure after that they're very important.

The letter I got just gave the interview date choices (not that i can choose yet)--March14-16 OR March 20-22

Letter dated Jan 10:
"...I am pleased that you have submitted an application....Because your application metb the Richmonad Schoalrs Progam dealine of 12/15/2005, your cpompleted app will be among those considered for an award in that schoalrshiop program...".

Does anyone have more details about this process? Has anyone called Richmond to find out when you would be notified, what the next steps would be?

I did not see the letter you quoted above, and it does sound like every application received before Dec 15th would be considered.

Did they mention something about calling 100 students in to be interviewed for the 50 Richmond Scholarships?
Thanks everyone

If an applicant applied by the Dec. 15 deadline for merit-based scholarships, when do they hear about the different ones or whether or not they are finalists or anything? Are there scholarships offered besides the full scholarships? How often do peopel get them/how hard are they to get? THANKS

Got an Email today...apparently I am a Scholarship finalist and am being consered for the Artists Schoalr(don't know if these considertaions--general and artist scholar--are mutually exclusive). I have to interview.

Queen of Fiji could you share more of what the email said? Did they describe the next steps in the scholarship process? Thanks, this info is for a friend's son.

congrats to those of you who already got the notifications!
so, it sounds like they are sending the decisions earlier? because on the papers they sent first, they said they would notify us early March, but i already know of someone else who got the e-mail... Does anyone know how this is working? Should we get an e-mail even if we are not finalists? I'm scared now!

Thanks for the update. So..do peopel get emails even if they are not finalists? So does it mean that if we don't receive notification within the next week or so that there are not other MERIT scholarships being given out?

as far as I know these were the Richmond Scholars, the scholarships that they select you for, if you applied by December 15 for scholarship consideration. Supposedly there are 100 finalists that will be interviewed at the school in March. But I wonder too if we'll get a notification even if we are NOT finalists. mid year reports havent been send out from my school yet but people have already received admission to the school as well as notifications for the scholarships. I'm getting scared, I hope they'll e-mail us even if we are not selected.

Yeah I was really really hoping to get one but I haven't received ANYTHING yet. Aaaaagh. Has anyone gotten an email saying that they were not chosen?

If I didn't get a letter does that mean that there aren't any more merit-based awards being given out? Or were these letters just for certaint types of ones?

Has anybody received a scholarship notification email specifying that you're being considered for science scholar? (If my understanding is correct, that's one of the subsets of University Scholar). CECIUY, are any of the people in your school being considered for Science Scholar?
I surely wish we knew whether all the Richmond scholarship emails have been sent, or whether more will go out this week....

CECIUY, the Jan. 10th letter that was sent to everybody who applied by Dec. 15 says, "Students whose apps do not advance to the final round of competition will be notified during the second week of March."

Even if all the emails have gone out, there might still be some hope. If some of the finalists have decided on other schools since applying, Richmond might send a few more emails after the first batch RSVP's. Hope so, anyway.

a_placefortruth,
I am not sure for what scholarships they are being considered yet.
Now regarding the letter, you are scaring me! I thought the letter said they would let us know in general whether or not we were selected... so that means that if we dont get the email we are not selected and we get that letter!? I think they SHOULD send a letter whether or not we continue on the competition. AGH, Im really scared now... Have you heard anythign? Also, the people that I know, along with the scholarship notification they have also been granted admissions...
I'll definitely post as soon as I get whatever I get!
