Would you guys be willing to risk the national ap scholar award and take one of the hard ap tests with self-studying? What's better? Showing independence and drive or consistency?

I would say consistency and quality of quantity and risk.

I took 9 AP’s this year. It was not fun. Don’t do it. Even if you think you can, just don’t. You barely get any time to study during AP week and so have little time to review before each test since they are in succession. Go spend your time doing something else instead, since apparently National AP Scholar isn’t even that noteworthy.

@capitalamerica Thanks for the response! I’m thinking about doing AP Chemistry by myself, since if anybody, I’d be the only one in my class tough enough for it. However, it is self studying AP CHEMISTRY, so I’ve been really thinking. Perhaps even Environmental Science, since I’ve already done AP Biology.

@capitalamerica Yeah, even though it seems meaningful and noteworthy, colleges see thousands of these kids.

@AnnieBeats What about if I were to get National AP Scholar in Sophomore year instead of when most people get it during Junior year?

It doesn’t matter when you get it. I don’t even think a college would see what grade you were in when you got in unless they went back and cross applied your test scores with the year you took the class. And no school would do that.
