RIT-Rolling Admissions

Accepted to Engineering open option. 3.0/4UW with a 30 ACT, top ten high school in my state, all the other good stuff ect. No merit aid

Congrats, @ratedroy95 and @mrm3328 !

@student4ever:) I got in touch with the gal who handles transfer students in my region and we were able to get everything sorted. Just finished everything up today (couple of roadblocks, the reason for the delay) so now time to play the waiting game. Thanks for the help. :)

Glad it worked out for you. Good luck!

Received merit letter today; 13k yearly presidential scholarship. I already told them I won’t be attending, though, so I hope they’ll speedily redistribute this money to someone else.

@LAMuniv Why are you declining RIT? Do you feel comfortable sharing?

@GamerGal27 - of course! My main reason is not any fault of RIT’s, but rather that I realised, after I had completed the application process and for a variety of reasons, that my true strength and passion lies with the humanities, more specifically, English. RIT is certainly a great school, but perhaps not so much for a future English/literature major :stuck_out_tongue: luckily, I applied to some universities and LACs too, but I’m still waiting to hear back from most of those.

Me again. :p

I was just wondering if there was a way to check how my admissions application was moving along on the myRIT Portal? Or more specifically, a place to check whether or not I have been accepted online instead of waiting for stuf to be mailed? I just submitted everything so I’m not expecting anything for at least a month or so but would like to keep track of everything or at least know of the decision sooner than later. I thought I read somewhere that this was possible throught myRIT Portal (myPortal?) but I’m not seeing anything.

@jmowen - DS received an email with details about the portal and a link to create an account about 3 days after he applied. I don’t know if this applies to transfer students.

When my son was accepted the portal changed about a day after he received his admission letter. It now has text that says he has been accepted and it lists his major. This is above the checklist on the left.

@student4ever:) - I already have access to myPortal. It is was required for an online application. However, my payment still says pending yet I paid a week ago. But my admissions counselor informed me that they have received the payment. Anyway, I think maybe something will appear once they actually start the whole admission process.

@GamerGal27 - I’m guessing that area is the ‘Your Next Steps’ box. In that case, it just shows the options to apply as an undergraduate or graduate so I’m guessing that’ll change soon. I’ll keep an eye in that area of myPortal.

Thanks for the answers. :)

Received the following message on DS’s myPortal home page under Your Next Steps - “If you have not yet received your admissions decision letter, please contact the Admissions Office.” Anybody else not receive decision, yet and/or get this message?

I got thay note, but it showed up after I had been accepted. This was about three weeks ago.

Thanks, @LAMuniv. I wish I would have seen his message earlier in the day so I could have contacted the Admissions Office. Now, it looks like we’ll have to wait until Monday. We were expecting to know by tomorrow as that is when RIT said decisions would be reported. Maybe I’ll try the Admission’s Office on Saturday - not that I expect them to be there, but wishful thinking!

@student4ever:) - D still has “apply” under the next steps in her portal. I thought she would have an answer by today because the 15th is a Saturday, but alas…still waiting. I thought they were coming out by tomorrow, but I checked the website and it says “mailed by 3/15” so we might be waiting a bit longer. UGH.

@cakeisgreat - I noticed the same “mailed by” - good luck to your D. Curious as to why DSs would say to contact admissions.

^^ yes me too! Keep us posted when you hear

I was accepted Thursday (noticed through myPortal), a few days after I had submitted the final materials (payments, recommendation letter and college transcript). I did not expect it to process that fast. The admissions counselor I had been e-mailing even told me 4-6 weeks.

She informed me yesterday that the papers had already been sent and should expect them today or Monday. I’m excited but shocked at the same time. Happened so fast haha.

Congrats! @jmowen

Admissions is closed today - I did try to call - still no notice of acceptance - just the same message on the portal to call. DS did receive an email about “The Loop” which sounds like it should be for admitted students, but we won’t know until Monday when I try to get in touch with admissions again!

To those inquiring about “…if you haven’t heard yet, contact admissions…” In our case a few days ago, after calling they told my son that his top three requested majors were full and asked him if he wished to be considered for another alternative (sounded tantamount to an admissions to the school if he selected a program that still had openings) and still be wait listed for his desired major or he could just stay on the wait list straight up and not receive any admission offer (and likely the aid award that would go with it). This is the likely answer to what the comments meant for others as well and perhaps something for you and your student to consider over the weekend.
