Rochester Renaissance Scholarship

Congratulations to all who qualified for the Renaissance Scholarship and those who received one. Hope you have a wonderful 4 years at UR for all those who choose to accept.

Hey everyone, and thank you! I am so excited to be able to go to the U of R for FREE next year!!! I think a lot of different factors played a certain role in getting me the Renaissance. Like the rest of the amazing Renaissance finalists, I had a very unique application that did stand out from the the other 15,000 or so applications. I did something that probably no one else has ever done (at least to my knowledge), but I did it because I genuinely wanted to (not just to get into an elite school and what not). I think the combination of that, plus really good grades, SAT's, recommendations and essays also won me the Renaissance. As for the interview, I played the same strategy as Brazen Raisin. I was really calm, down to earth, hahaha I was myself! On top of that, the U of R was genuinely one of my 3 first choices, and the fact that I was a finalist for the scholarship made me want to enroll there DESPERATELY!!! =] I made sure to subtly get that message across during my interview, and of course to be polite, I sent my 4 interviewers thank you notes several days after. The admissions committee at Rochester was SOO nice and helpful, I thought it was so cool how they took a genuine interest in me (I am certainly not used to being in the spotlight, as I rarely receive recognition for any of my endeavors at my high school!) It really was a fantastic weekend, and such an honor to be selected, I truly never expected any of this! I sent in my enrollment deposit last week, and I had to decline admission to Tufts, Rice, Wesleyan, Vassar, Middlebury, Brandeis and UConn today. I'm really, really happy with the offer I received and where I am going next year. YAY U of R!!! =]

Pam - thank you for sharing. I think UR is very lucky to get you! Good luck in the future.

Hey! Can anyone help me out with this? I got shortlisted for Renaissance scholarship and i did my interview i am just waiting for the result. But i wanna know is there a chance i get rejected from UOR even after being shortlisted ? Has this happend to anyone before?

Though I haven’t been on the list for the Renaissance Scholarship, from my personal experience they do not deny people to the university if they make it to a final consideration stage, such as the finalist status that you are at with this scholarship. I wouldn’t worry about being rejected

Or even wait listed for that matter

@IndependentLan‌ thank you!! You sure did put my hopes up! Cuz i recieved rejections from a few other universities so i am quite nervouss!!! I really hope i get in

Any finalists who heard back from UOR about admission. Decision not about the scholarship?
