Rolling admissions: senior grades

People are encouraging applying in sept/oct, but what do I do if I strongly wish to send in my 1st quarter senior grades (and if possible, 2nd quarter as well)? My overall GPA isn't very strong and I'd like to wait as long as possible to apply (so I can get as many senior grades in as possible). This would probably mean that I'll be applying in like, Jan or Feb. How badly does this hurt my chances? Is it better to just not send in my senior grades and apply in oct/nov?

I applied Oct/Nov...and then sent in my 1st semester transcript in January...got a reply Feb...I was OS too..so..it might work for u lol

Yeah, i'm basically wondering the same thing.

I've been told to apply early, but my "Michigan GPA" right now is a 3.3. Yikes. Even though I come from a school that half the students wind up @ Michigan (we get extra points when we apply), and take a hard curriculum, as well as having a 3.63 GPA (with one +/- boost for a AC/AP course), and w/a 29 ACT, i'm worried! I think the GPA could kill me, and prevent me from getting in, when it really isn't as bad as it looks. I was hoping senior year could change that a bit, but if I don't apply ED, I likely won't get in. Ahhh! I'm worried! I don't know what to do if I can't get in.

Half the kids at your school end up at Mich? What school do you go to?

Ann Arbor Pioneer HS. It's not really half, that's overexaggerating. But about one in every 4 or 5 get in. When reading through the school newspaper, at the end of the year they listed every senior and their intended college. About 23% were attending UMich.

Wow, I go to Catholic Central (received 6 pts on old scale) and we only have a little under 15% attending UMich-AA next yr.

I'm assuming that Mich will let you send in your first semester grades later on. If they reject you before you send them in, then see that as a "you had no chance anyway" message? Does anyone agree?

Oh geez... I had some friends at CC. It must stink not to have girls to oggle over during class, eh?

lol...I went to a Catholic ALL BOYS Jesuit School.. AWFUL!

I think at Troy we have about 20% of the class accepted to Michigan (and that's a sizeable class at 500).

My school...in 04', 45 applied, 37 were accepted. Thats 82% LOL. But only 9 or 10 ended up going. I think in my class it was about the same/little bit higher. I only know 1 kid in my class who got deferred and that was cause of his behavior record

I applied in Jan. w/ your exact credentials and still got in from out of state.

That's always the first thing people say when I mention I go to CC. Yeah, it stinks lol
