Rolling Admissions

Hey everyone thanks for giving this a read!

Well it's almost that time of year were senior high school students apply to their colleges of choice (can't beleive its only a few months away) and I'm conflicted right now.

One of the colleges I am applying to is Carthage College. I recieved in the mail today something from said college that stated they have a "Priority" application process if you apply before August 29th. I'm not sure if I should do this though. The reasons are as followed:

1) I took my first ACT in less than steller condition and got a 25. So I wanted to apply after I got my new test results which as of now range anywhere between 29-31

2) My counselor is not going to be at work until mid Sept. due to maternity leave. I simply don't trust a stand in to handle my transcript.

Am I just paranoid? What do you think? The school is "rolling admissions" so if I don't apply then when should be the latest?

Thanks!

Anyone at all?

August 29th seems awfully early. I think it won’t hurt to wait. I’d say, just take the ACT again and apply when your counselor gets back. (Although, unless your transcript is complicated, I don’t think a “stand-in” would be able to cause very much damage. It’s a straightforward process.)

I’d say you should have all your applications done by December, although I’m sure others will disagree with me. You have time.

For Carthage College WI this is a little dated (2 years old) but here is the ACT composite scores

Percent with ACT Composite scores in the 30-36 range: 9%
Percent with ACT Composite scores in the 24-29 range: 42%
Percent with ACT Composite scores in the 18-23 range: 46%

So with a 25 you around the 50 percentile range. If you are going to be in the 29-31 range soon, that will put in a much stronger position and more than compensate for not applying early. I would not apply this early if you have 25 ACT composite going in. Being in the top 25% of the entering class is a much better position to be rather than the top 50%.
