Thought I’d go ahead and start this! My D will be in the BFA MT voice emphasis program.

Congrats to your daughter! I am a senior, so I will probably not get to meet her, but I am sure she is going to have an amazing four year journey at CCPA. It’s a special place, and I’m happy she’ll get to experience it for all its worth! Let me know if you or your daughter have any questions.

I was accepted to the BFA MT dance emphasis program and am going to be attending in the fall!

Yea, jamjam94! My D is waiting for an email telling her they’ve set up a facebook page for you new students. Have you gotten that yet?

And musicislife I think we met you at auditions in February. You guys were all SO nice and welcoming. Thanks! Do you have exciting plans for after you graduate?

AustinMT- I’m sure we did meet, as I was working the auditions in February! I am actually leaving in May to go on a year-long national tour with Missoula Children’s Theatre where I’ll be acting/directing/and teaching all across the country. I’m very excited for the opportunity to travel and perform so many different places, and am VERY grateful to be employed in the business directly after graduation!

musicislife: My D did one of the Missoula Children’s Theatre shows a few years back at the Paramount Theatre here in Austin. I think it was Jack and the Beanstalk. So much fun!

That sounds like a great opportunity–do most of the CCPA grads have that kind of opportunity lined up for after graduation?

What about the theatre grads–would you know what kinds of jobs they are headed to? My son was accepted into the BFA program for theatre. We are concerned with the cost of CCPA and have to wonder where most of their actors are after 4 years–and what opportunities they will have.

Hi Stagemom- Congrats to your son on his acceptance!

What people do with their degree is essentially up to them. A lot of CCPA students choose to start their careers in Chicago where they have trained and made connections for four years. We also have a good number of students who are making the move to NYC or LA. It really just depends on the student and their particular career goals. Most graduating students hit the audition circuit and get cast often in professional, Equity shows. Some perform of cruise ships and National Tours. Some students have decided that they want to be stage managers or designers. I personally have found a love for teaching as well as performing, so this job is perfect for me. I think the cool think about CCPA is that even though it is a conservatory, I feel incredibly well rounded as a performer, person, and employee and feel pretty prepared for any number of jobs. Now I just get to see where the wind takes me!

Please let me know if you have any further questions!
