<p>I just finished my Rose-Hulman application and would be so excited to be able to attend because its my top choice of schools. Unfortunately, even if I'm accepted, I'll need to receive quite a bit of scholarship money in order to attend. Does anyone know if they stack their scholarships? If I'm admitted, when would they send information about possible scholarships? Someone mentioned in another discussion a Percopo scholarship, but I don't see it listed on Rose's scholarship page. Also, I've noticed a lot of their scholarships are for Indiana residents, and I'm from California.</p>
<p>@kate90505 My oldest son was accepted to RH last year, but decided to go to Texas A&M. His stats were similar to yours, but he withdrew his application before merit aid was awarded, so I don’t have any information to share concerning his merit offers. (We did not want to keep some other student from getting merit aid.)</p>
<p>My middle son has his RH application pending. I don’t know about stacking scholarships. I do remember from last year that RH used to have information about specific merit scholarships on their web site, including about one that was limited to California residents. I don’t think RH gets a lot of applicants from California, particularly female ones. With your stats, you should be strongly considered for all available merit aid.</p>
<p>Have you visited campus yet? If not, I’d be happy to send you my visit write-up.</p>
<p>@kate90505 Based on our visit with the admissions office, here’s what I wrote last year that may be of interest to you:</p>
<p>There are three Michael and Catharine Percopo Scholarships which provide three full-tuition scholarships, with preference to East and West Coast students, particularly graduates of Bronx High School of Science, New York; Brooklyn Technical High School, New York; Stuyvesant High School, New York; Thomas Jefferson High School, Alexandria, Virginia. Rose Hulman has been unable to award all these scholarships … </p>
<p>Also, RH is about 80% male. Last year I was told that they are trying very hard to get more women enrolled.</p>
<p>Oh, I forgot to mention that we live in the Phoenix metro area. If 90505 is your zip code, it looks like you are in Torrance.</p>
<p>@Beaudreau Thanks for the information, it was actually really helpful. Was there any specific reason your son decided against Rose? And yes, I’m from torrance! Unfortunately, I haven’t visited campus because its so far away.</p>
<p>@kate90505 My oldest son wanted a bigger campus and preferred a school that offered Aerospace Engineering. His final two were Texas A&M and Purdue (also accepted to Michigan, Texas, and Georgia Tech). We had a great visit to Texas A&M and they offered a much larger scholarship. Being from Arizona, he also wasn’t sure about weather up north.</p>
<p>That said, he did not even want to visit Rose-Hulman, but was very impressed. Son number two really liked it and is anxiously waiting to hear from them.</p>
<p>Scholarship info will not be processed and sent to admitted students until mid to late March. Couple of reasons for this. First, our Regular Decision round of admission has as its notification date March 15th. We need to have our full class admitted before we can break it down into scholarship level tiers. Second, once the class is broken down, we then need to know what we have to spend in terms of a scholarship award budget. That is not approved by the Board of Trustees until their annual meeting in late February. If you have other questions, let me know.</p>

<p>A bit nervous about the RHIT admissions post, since M did receive notice of acceptance and a full ride tuition Rose-Hulman Commitment Scholarship yesterday. It may be in a separate category than traditional merit scholarships, and my daughter was a National Hispanic Merit Scholar which puts her into two minority groups at RHIT (is it really only 20% female?)</p>
<p>We were completely overwhelmed by the news and are hoping it is legitimate. I can’t seem to find much online about the scholarship and can only find it listed under “awards” in a current student’s linked in profile. This school was filed under “free application but we could never afford” until yesterday, so we hadn’t researched the school until yesterday. Anybody ever heard of this scholarship?</p>
<p>Thanks @RHITAdmissions. I spoke with both Melinda and the admissions office yesterday. We are planning a visit in January and are extremely grateful for this wonderful opportunity. </p>
<p>Let me know when you are coming, @Tiptond so that I can stop by the main Admissions Office and say hi. Just send me a private message here or email me at <a href=“mailto:jared.goulding@rose-hulman.edu”>jared.goulding@rose-hulman.edu</a>.</p>
@kate90505 My daughter is attending Rose as a freshman this year. We are from SF Bay Area and I would love for her to connect with someone who’s also from CA (albeit, SoCal). Did you end up committing with RHIT?
NorCalMom, my son committed for next year and we live in Southern California. Haven’t had a chance to visit Rose yet! There is an admitted students Facebook page… have your daughter look there as the kids are introducing themselves.
@RHITAdmissions we were there for a visit on the weekend of 4/27 and sat down with Matt. Would have loved to meet you! We live in Santa Clara. PM me, so I can ask my D to look for you. This is going to be a BIG MOVE for her and just like anyone traveling thousand of miles away from their family-- she needs all the support she can get!
@TwoSue Can you link me the FB page, please? Rose is GORGEOUS. We were so impressed. There were turtles on a ledge by the lake and not too far away, a couple of students studying by the dock on a beautiful quiet Sunday afternoon; talk about picturesque! D shadowed a Biomedical student that took her in for the night and to one of her classes on a Monday. The campus is super clean and just the right size-- not too big, not too small. The classrooms are not crowded and the facilities are modern. D is especially excited as the ‘triplets’ or the girls’ dorm is close to the SRC. She had worried about the cold lol. But it looks like she can use the cardio to get from the dorm to the school gym. The school also provides all the resources a student will need to academically succeed, from the nice private rooms that vary in sizes in the library, to the various student clubs that will meet the kids’ social needs. Everyone we met were super nice and extra helpful. I was especially impressed after finding out that some kids that we talked with that have turned down big school names like MIT, Stanford and Renssalaer for RHIT. Couldn’t help but noticed- it was a Monday morning and most of the students were smiling. If that doesn’t say anything about the level of comfort and satisfaction of current student life, I don’t know what will. LOL.
