I plan on majoring in computer science. Although I'm waiting to hear back from all of my regular decision schools, I figure that I should be able to make the choice between my back up schools by the time those come out.

To be honest, I didn't really put Rose Hulman into consideration until recently, because they are offering me a substantial amount of money-- enough to offset my decision from every other school (even though I'll get in-state tuition for UIUC)

In terms of post graduation success/employment and what academic/campus life is like, what can people tell me about these schools? Would it be a bad idea to turn down an extremely cheap Rose Hulman education for the other two schools?

Since you’re instate for UIUC, you have to keep that option open, especially if you’re admitted into CS. Rose Hulman is an excellent college so if they offer you a scholarship, keep it on the list.
I assume you didn’t get a scholarship from GTech, so it’d be the college to cut out.

Was it a Rose-Hulman Commitment Scholarship? I’m curious because I assumed that all the financial aid packages would be sent out during mid-march.

At $80,550, Rose-Hulman CS graduates seem to do alright:

Have you visited Rose-Hulman? Check out their accepted student days and see what you think. It isn’t the right school for everyone, but their grads do very well financially, especially in the Midwest. I would keep it on your list and plan to go to accepted student days even if you have done a day visit to campus. 24 hours on campus can really help you get a better feeling for a place to decide if it is for you.

@ratherextreme Yes, it was the full commitment scholarship. It came out with my acceptance letter for EA, although they will be sending out another wave of merit scholarships mid-march.

I’ll be doing overnight visits for Rose Hulman and U of I soon, plus a day visit for Georgia Tech.
