we're ranked behind the top publics, uva and berkeley. oh well.

i also believe they could've given us a better picture on the slide show. sheesh.

The top 10 are all worthy. Sloan and Stern were ranked behind Ross. I still think the BW ranking needs some serious tweaking. Emory and BYU have no business being ranked in the top 10. Carnegie Mellong deserves better than a #21 ranking and Villanova is way overranked.

As far as Ross goes, I think the fact that the new building is not yet completed hurts us in the rankings since our B school students are homeless. One of the many parts of the ranking is the quality of the facilities, which are now lacking. When the building is operational, watch out!

When is that, Alexandre?

The new Ross Building should be completed by August of 2008 and it is going to be sick!

Forgiven, we will be the first class to graduate from the new facilities.....hopefully.

yeah... hopefully. i'm going to spend every waking moment in that building to get the most out of it, haha.

and it seems that ross students are the students that spend the most time on schoolwork. to me, that's just messed up --

Yeah, I don't see how Ross students are the most studious. But then again 21 hours a week is only 3 hours a day, which isn't a whole lot either.

those numbers i'm assuming are from the b-schoolers that were in the 2-year program, where they had to take a lot more core courses.

bah, I'm both glad and sad that Ross is a 3 year now. It really gives a lot of time to do extra things, but also, sucks for me becasue as a transfer student, I'd have to go to school that extra year if I got in.

Berkeley went from #41 to #1 in the recruiter rank? I find it hard to believe that there can be such a large disparity in just one year.

Alexandre, why shouldn't Emory be in the top 10? I understand why BYU shouldn't be there but Emory is a great university, please explain why you think its not that good.

Pyar, I think Emory is a great university with a fine Business program. Upon re-reading my post, I overstated my position on Emory. I definitely think it makes a case for top 10 consideration, but it is overranked at #4. That is what I meant to say. At any rate, there are a few BBA programs I think are better than Goizueta.

Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper)
Cornell University
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sloan)
New York University (Stern)
University of California-Berkeley (Haas)
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (Ross)
University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)
University of Virginia (McIntire)

I would say Goizueta is comparable to WUSTL's Olin, Georgetown's McDonough, USC's Marshall, UT-Austin's McCombs, UNC-Chapel Hill's Kenan Flagler, Indiana University's Kelley and Notre Dame's Mendoza. Those programs all have excellent programs, but none of them are quite as god as the 8 programs I listed above.

Notice that the pre-admit rate will fall to about 13% from 17% last year (716 apps last year and about 900 this year, with same number of spots)... and the average GPA went from a 3.8 to a 3.9.

Hey Anhydrosis2000, has Ross finished its admissions review of pre-admit applications already and if so, is the 65 kids picked out of 900 total who applied figure quoted in the article accurate? Also, have all the pre-admit decisions been given out or are there more on the way?

I personally have been waiting for more than 3 months for a decision either way.:(

I bet BW's stats were from last year as the surveys were done a few months back. I doubt if BW had any inside info for this year's pre-admit (in fact, I don't think the process is completed yet).

Last year, 716 applied, 115 admitted and 62 enrolled. BW is notorious in compiling stats for the b-school ranking. When they first published the ranking last year, they listed Michigan as a private institute and NYU as public.

GoBlue81, BW used the number 900 and a GPA of 3.9, versus 716 and 3.8 for last year. In last year's stat page, Ross noted they expected more applicants and about the same number of spots. Thus, it looks like they have talked to Ross admissions people, especially since the article references "this fall." This would be more than a simple "public versus private" error, but a story from wholecloth.

EvilAsianDictator, I highly doubt if Ross has notified all persons admitted... especially if the postings on this Board are any indication. Last year, it seems like the plurality of people of admittees heard back between now and the end of the month. I know I heard about a week or two before the March 30/April 1 deadline of many of the top colleges. However, there were others that were accepted in April.

This was funny b/c during the campus day event, the business kids were talking about how it said they study 21 hours when they study like 14 hrs.

honestly though, 21 hours isn't that much. i'd say a lot of my b-school peers work a lot more than that. 3 hours a day isn't much.

sometimes weekly group case assignments can take 8+ hours, and this is just fo a hw assignment.
