To be a ross prefered admit, you not only need the stats (which you have) but some sort of experience in the business field, which it appears that you don't have and this is a really important factor in getting in

Two people got in from my school last year. One had a 30 on the ACT and a 4.0. The other had a 3.7-3.8...don't know their ACT. They had NO business EC whatsoever. However, they did have leadership roles in the student council (vice president of school and treasurer of school).

I had no business experience. The only business related item on my application was as a member of FBLA. I also had a summer job at a large public company making copies and doing gopher work. I took a couple of business classes at a local college during my senior year. I wrote my essay about a charitable cause and how I used skills necessary to start a business in leading this cause.

Stats aren't that big of a factor for ross. I know the student relations/adcom for Ross and he said that if you got "past" the LS&A/Engin admissions, then you're basically straight as far as stats go. Like most people said above, business EC's and essays are basically it as far as ross goes. I know someone with a 29 ACT, 3.6 GPA that got into ross because of very impressive business EC's.

I asked the question because I know that business EC is not a necessary requirement if you apply through the normal channel. Strong business EC will help of course, but you are not automatically rejected if you don't.

A clear statement of purpose of why you want to study business is very important. Leadership and community involvement are also important.

I didn't have any business EC's.. I wasn't a part of DECA, FBLA, Fed Challenge, or anything liek that.. I had the stats, and I had leadership positions, but that was pretty much it haha.. They told us at the first meeting that we got in partly because we were qualified and partly because we were lucky :P
