Roswell Park Cancer Institute - High School Summer Internship 2014

Supposedly results come out mid-April. :)

I applied as well! Still haven’t heard anything yet.

@intowishin‌ According to who? Or just an assumption? I’m getting too anxious haha

I e-mailed Dr. Kisailus a couple days ago and he replied that there is a delay in the decision making process by the faculty and that all applicants will be notified of a decision over the next couple of weeks.
I’m still wondering if anyone has heard a reply yet however.

How do you guys feel about your chances? What are your stats?

I have a deadline rapidly approaching to accept a position in another program. I just emailed Dr. Kisailus to notify him that if my admissions decision is not sent to me by the 22nd, I will be forced to withdraw my application. I’ll let you know what the result of this email is. Even if I’m not able to attend, I know how nervewracking it is to have to wait for an unspecified date for a decision, so I’ll keep you posted.

@thefinest When exactly did you email Dr. Kisailus?

@MisterFahrenheit‌,
Just from some previous threads on RPCI and comments made on this thread. Haven’t talked to the program director yet!

@intowishin I was looking at the threads for the programs from the years prior and it looks like decisions were sent in late March/early April those years. But if @thefinest just emailed Dr. Kisailus within the past week and he said the decisions would be made in the upcoming weeks at the time of his response, then I’m still optimistic!

@MisterFahrenheit A couple days ago!

Fingers crossed then!

Many summer programs send out decisions later than anticipated, so I wouldn’t be too concerned. :)

I just wish they would notify us soon. My parents are looking to schedule a family vacation and I want to be able to go with.

Same. Are you guys all from New York State? I’m from out of state and need to know if I am in or not so I can make travel arrangements.

@thefinest‌ I’m from New York but on the opposite side of the state. Where are you from?

I live just outside buffalo about 20 minutes away

Yeah I am from the South. I feel like New York State residents have an advantage

@thefinest‌ Ehhh, I don’t know how much more of an advantage someone like me, who lives six hours from Buffalo, would have over you.

But I doubt that RPCI will put much, if any, weight at all on home location or distance. If the perfect candidate they’re look for is from the South, I doubt they’d forgo that application just because of location, so don’t sweat it!

I heard that they may weigh slightly against commuter attendees (so me) because they dont want to give the impression that there is an unfair advantage against people from out of the area

@MisterFahrenheit Thanks! Hopefully that’s the case!
