I applied this year. Did anybody else? Or has anybody gone in the past? How was the experience?

hey, i just got into this and i think i’m going! are you?

What is the program? Looking for signs of alien life? Sounds like fun! :-)

i was rejected sezata, congrats! what concentration did you apply for?

I haven’t heard yet. How did they notify you? (email, letter, etc?)

thanks!
they sent me a letter last weekend i think. i applied for cell/molecular biology, and i’m with dr. andrei gukdov for cell stress biology. i’m really excited since i’m out of town as well, so i’ll be staying at the dorms :)

that sounds like SUCH a fun experience!! congrats i still haven’t heard yet, so i’m assuming they didn’t place me…i wasn’t sure what they were looking for in the essay. just curious, do you remember some of the topics you wrote about?

I really am interested in what this program is. When I googled it, I found organizations related to cancer, but no summer programs. Can you send a direct link?

[Roswell Park Cancer Institute - Summer Research Program for High School Students - Comprehensive Cancer Center](http://classic.roswellpark.org/Education/Summer_Programs/SummerResearchProgramforHighSchoolStudents)

In this short essay, I basically talked about how my interest in science started, and that I wasn’t really sure what field of biology I want to go into in the future, but that I hoped to learn a lot in the program. It was phrased a little bit more eloquently though, and I put in some biology references.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a great program.

Okay…I still haven’t gotten any notification, so I’m just going to assume I was rejected but it would still be nice to get a confirmation or something…

I applied but have not heard anything either i was thinking about sending them an e-mail to see if they have made all their decisions or if they were still making them. Would have been nice to hear a yes or no by now :/

friend got in so if you didn’t hear probably a no :(

Looks like a pretty good program! When did applications start and were they on the website? I don’t see any links and there isn’t a lot of information on the site… I think I may apply next year because I’d like to get some research experience (although I’m not sure what major I want to be in yet, scientific research is a definite possiblity).
Thanks!

Applicants will start to be notified of their status beginning in April.

Oh, okay. Do you know approximately when applications open and when the deadline is?
Also, to senzata and any others who were accepted, if you don’t mind saying, what are your stats? I’m wondering if I have a chance to get in at all, because my stats aren’t too great.

The application deadline for the 2011 season was Feb 25. ><

Waitlisted :/.

Waitlisted as well.

I was accepted for summer 2011! I am very excited and looking forward to the research experience. Has anyone participated in research at Roswell in the past and would have good advice about the program? Also, does anyone know about the Canisius College housing? I am an “out-of-towner.” Is it a dorm or a townhouse, which building would it likely be and are the rooms singles/doubles/triples, etc? And the website mentioned residence hall activities during the summer. Are the activities designed for us undergrad researchers or is it general fun summer stuff (not that GFSS is bad :).
