RPI Stars?

<p>Hi all,</p>

<p>First off, best of luck to all the parents and kids going off to school this week!</p>

<p>Now, on to business:</p>

<p>My daughter, who would like to major in biomedical engineering has been invited to something called the STARS weekend at RPI. It is a 3 day stay with a student with lots of organized activities--ostensibly for under represented groups for RPI -- like girls!</p>

<p>Any CC community folks send their kids?</p>

<p>If you are a student, did you go?</p>

<p>What did you/they think?</p>

<p>Did it move RPI up or down your/their list?</p>

<p>I had this posted over at the parents side, but getting lots of looks and no answers -- thought I would try and reach out here. </p>

<p>Yes! My daughter was invited to this and we did send her :)</p>

<p>STAR program stands for Science, Technology and Arts at Rensselaer if I remember right. It’s targeted at certain minority groups, one big one of which is GIRLS!!! If you can send your daughter I would recommend it based on our experience. </p>

<p>Our D was looking at Chem Engineering (possible BioMed Eng). She was deciding between 2 schools and this program solidified her choice for RPI. She had a great time and I could tell how comfortable she was at the campus when I picked her up. If you have any specific questions please send me a PM and I’d be happy to answer them if I can.</p>
