Hi, I'm an incoming freshman at Drexel and I really want to join a frat (either this semester or next).

Can anyone give me a run down on each frat? I looked each of them up but I really couldn't get that much of an understanding about each one (i.e. reputations, differences, etc.)

If anyone familiar with the frats could give me a run down on each frat that would be greatly appreciated.

Sir you are in luck. I happen to be in a fraternity on campus and am pretty knowledgeable when it comes to information about them. Unfortunately what I’m not allowed to do is present bias towards any specific fraternity. I will give you a quick insight into what Greek life at Drexel has to offer and the fraternities on campus.

AXP (Alpha Chi Rho)
APiLambda (Alpha Pi Lambda) better known as Apple Pi
AEPi (Alpha Epsilon Pi)
TKE (Tau Kappa Epsilon) better known as Teek
PKA (Pi Kappa Alpha) better known as Pike
PiKPhi (Pi Kappa Phi) better known as Pi Kapp
SigmaPhiE (Sigma Phi Epsilon) better known as Sig Ep
ThetaX (Theta Chi)
LambdaXA (Lambda Chi Alpha)
PhiKPsi (Phi Kappa Psi) better known as Phi Psi

So, these are the 10 recognized Inter-Fraternity-Council fraternities on campus. There are also a great many multicultural and academic fraternities available for students to join. But if you are looking for the traditional Greek life experience look no further than these ten.

Each fraternity brings their own style and presence to campus. All of the fraternities are displayed on Wednesday September 21st at an event called Night on the Row. All of the fraternities and sororities come out and cook food, have events, and blast music all night. It’s a really fun event and a great opportunity to see what some of the fraternities are all about. You can tour the houses and enjoy free food while you’re doing it. After this begins the rush period of Greek life where you can go and learn more about the fraternities. During rush period you pick an organization to rush and participate in various rush events. At the end of rush period the fraternity will then choose whether or not to give you a “Bid” to join the fraternity. A “Bid” is a chance and if you accept you will become a pledge to that organization.

Best of luck in your decision,

I would wait until your sophmore year to rush a Frat. Frats take up a LOT of your free time especially if you are a pledge. You want to spend your freshman year exploring the campus, getting to know your roommate-suitemates and concentrating on your studies and GPA.

I should know, I actually joined two frats in my undergraduate years. SAE(social frat-has many chapters, but not at Drexel) and Delta Sigma Pi (for business majors-not sure if a chapter at drexel).

I joined SAE in my freshman year at the Univ. of Miami (Fla.), and I regret the timing of doing it that early in my undergraduate years. Many colleges nowadays will not let you rush until your sophomore year. Not sure if Drexel has this rule. Be careful and don’t rush (pun intended) the decision! lol.
