Rutgers or SMCM? What do you think?

I was accepted to six colleges: Binghamton U, George Mason U, Roger Williams U, Rutgers U, Siena College, and St. Mary's College of Maryland. I've managed to narrow it down to Rutgers and St. Mary's but now I'm stuck. I've lived in NJ my whole life so I know a good deal about Rutgers but St. Mary's being 5 1/2 hours away from my home causes a couple problems. First of all if I decide I dislike it I won't be able to retreat home on weekends like I could at Rutgers and secondly I have no idea what the reputation of St. Mary's is. Would an employer be more impressed by a Rutgers or St. Mary's education?

When I visited St. Mary's I loved it and when I visited Rutgers I was more interested in hanging out with my friends who go there. I know that Rutgers has a great education but I'm also aware of the giant class sizes, the mountains of red tape, and the shuttle buses which seemed more like a subway car during rush hour. I can't say i'm looking foward to any of that. When it comes to St. Mary's I worry because I don't know what the people are like (and I don't know of any of them), the lack of surrounding area, and the fact that its more expensive. Everytime I tell someone I want to go to St. Mary's I feel like they judge me for making a huge mistake.

So I just wanted to know what you guys thought? I could use some fresh insight and perhaps feedback on the reputation of St. Mary's.

Side Note: I should point out that I'm a transfer student and getting my Associate's this December. I worry that if I am unhappy there is no way I can ever transfer again. Any thoughts?
