Rutgers Scholarship

I’m currently a junior in high school. I have a 3.34 W, 3.98 W, 2290 SAT score. (M: 800 W: 780 CR: 710) I currently have a job as an IT Assistant to give me experience as a high school student, as I intend to study Computer Science in college. I take classes at my local community and pretty much have a semesters worth of courses completed. I take the heardest AP/Honors classes at my school, and am very involved in school (going to FBLA Nationals), I also volunteer a lot in my community at the hospital and working with the elderly. I also started a small program in which I work with elementary school kids. I’m also a varsity tennis player.

Do I have any chance to earn the Rutgers Presidential Scholarship or the $10000 per year?

GPA too low for Prezzy fo sho, maybe the Trustee (15k) or lower. Rutgers unfortunately uses 99% stats-based admissions it seems, so really get that GPA up.

Do you know what the requirements are for the trustee scholarship?

I don’t think there are any specific requirements for Presidential or Trustee scholarships, it’s all in proportion to the rest of the pool (as in, the top 1% gets Presidential, top 2-3% gets Trustee etc.)

I agree with foolish, I think your GPA is too low for Presidential, you probably have a shot at Trustee, especially if you show an upward trend.

I don’t see the Trustee Scholarship. Do they not have it anymore for some weird reason?

They still have the Trustee but they don’t post it on their site anymore, why? Idk. Not to be pessimistic or anything But you can qualify for a scholarship and still not get one. I know a lot of highly qualified people who didn’t receive one. So don’t just rely on getting a scholarship from them. Start Applying to outside scholarships now just in case

Aly310, What type of outside scholarships do you know of ?

Check out fastweb or cappex for outside scholarships. The ones I know of were for seniors and are already closed. Look at the financial aid &scholarship category, read the scholarships threads then keep track of those scholarships for next year! Also try seeing if your school provides information about local scholarships.

Outside scholarships are great, but they are usually for small amounts (<$1000) and only good for one year, and the exceptions are very competitive. The bulk of aid will come from the school and some from the government.

Hope for an RU scholarship, but apply to other schools where you are guaranteed merit aid.

Also, as a recipient of the Trustee scholarship this year, I can assure you they are still around. :stuck_out_tongue:

My dad is pushing me to apply for outside scholarships but all that I’ve gotten out of it is ridiculous spam mail, which no one ever seems to mention. 8-|

Merit from schools is the best way to go when it comes to scholarships, so GPA and SAT/ACT is important! Thank you for clarifying that Trustee still exists. :stuck_out_tongue:

The Trustee Scholarship started a couple of years ago, but for some reason they never listed it on the website lol. The only reason we know it exists is because people have received it.
