Ok, I know this really isn't funny but a Salutatorian got rejected...?

LMAO What is Rutgers thinking? You must keep us posted, hopefully I'll stop laughing by then

What was your transferring GPA?

LMAO What is Rutgers thinking? You must keep us posted, hopefully I'll stop laughing by then

What was your transferring GPA?

My GPA right now is a 4.0. The lady said that admission into the School of Engineering is hard, but I don't know why i wasn't accepted. I can't think of any reason why i wasn't accepted.

RUTtransfer, that is messed up! sorry. I woulda went all in betting you were gonna get accepted. Did you apply to other Rutgers schools? The only reason I can think of is that they filled their quota but it's still kinda hard to believe. If you really want to go, I would appeal this decision and go there and meet up with admissions.

I didn't apply to any of the other Rutgers school. I know it sounds arrogant, but I figured I was practically guaranteed to get in to New Brunswick with my grades and everything. I figure if the reason I didn't get in really is BS, then I'd call up admissions and ask for a legitimate reason.

I walked into TCNJ with about 55 credits from 4's and 5's 7 AP tests and Count College credits through a dual credit program at my high school. I explained WHY i had over 55 credits as a college freshman on a section in the application, but for some reason I have a feeling that's the reason they rejected me.

WOW, this is crazy. I honestly would not have thought that RUTransfer would have even been second guessed.

Hey RUTransfer,

Did you have any extra-curricular activities? Or, did you write a personal statement?

I don't do much right now. I'm taking 16 credits and working 15 hours a week (while trying to maintain a 4.0), so I don't really have a lot of time.

In high school I was really active. Marching band, play, musical, newspaper, NHS Treasurer, Tri-M President, Mock Trial, Jazz Band, and a bunch of other activities that aren't coming to mind right now.

The personal statement just went over why I have so many bloody credits.

I guess if you applied to more than one school within NB, you have no problem getting in. On my application I only put School of Engineering. I'm going to try and appeal the decision when I get the letter explaining why I was rejected, but if that doesn't work, I guess I'm staying at TCNJ.

~Edit~
Now that I think about it, I also explained in my personal statement why i wanted to transfer to rutgers.

Is it harder to transfer in if I am majoring in business then if I am majoring in political science?

With NJ STARS, they have to take you, right? Even the echool of engineering?

With NJ STARS, I don't think that Rutgers Has to take you. If you are in their dual degree program, you are guaranteed admissions given you maintain a 3.0 or above GPA. I think that if you do well as an NJ Star at your county college, the University in NJ that you transfer to has to offer you NJ star II.

Well, I decided to e-mail admissions and ask for an appeal, but i bet they'll just send me a generic "We're sorry you didn't get in" e-mail.

RUtransfer,

can you request that they consider for the other schools within the university? you could have did a college-to-college transfer if you apply to more than one school initially. So, since your application fee covers three schools, why dont you request they offer you admission to like the SAS?

I know the School of Engineering is hard to get into, but if I do well in NJstars I, I hope I will be able to transfer over fine. Very scary thought. But I guess if they won't take me, I can transfer to some other state college in NJ, but my heart is reallly set on Rutgers. =(

NJDetermined,

Is it possible to do that this late? If i could, I would definitely try that.

So i got a call this morning from Rutgers admissions, and the director apologized for a clerical error. I guess she saw my e-mail and looked at my file again. She said that she IS sending me an acceptance letter, and for some reason when somebody put it in the computer, they accidentally sent me a rejection notice instead of an accepted notice.

I swear this sort of stuff only happens to me :/

At least i got in though

Congratulations!

It was still funny as hell

Great! we knew it was an error or else non of us would have a chance...

I woke up this morning to my phone ringing. I barely missed the call, and I called back. That was when I talked to the director. Turns out she had left a voice mail. It was in response to the call I had made to make sure I was actually rejected. Turns out that when the director was about to fill out the letter stating WHY i was rejected, she noticed the mistake.

It'll be funny when I go back to my dorm and there's a rejection and acceptance letter in my mailbox.

hey congrats RUTransfer!!

your situations is extremely ironic, but I am sincerely happy that you got in! look at it this way, had you not contacted them wanting an explanation as to why your were rejected, you most likely would have never found out. Who to know how many mistakes like this have already occurred? Anyway, it must be a relief to know that it was an error. They should give you a scholarship to really express their apology LOL!!

Best of wishes to you bro!

Now, has anyone else receive a decision?!

Hey RUTransfer,

Congrats on getting in to Rutgers! I'm actually currently a tcnj student as well, and have applied to transfer to rutgers nb for fall '09 [school of environmental sciences]. It's my second semester as a music major at tcnj, and I can barely stand it. I feel like I'm in the middle of nowhere, and I don't even like what I'm studying. And I find it hard to relate to people here, because everyone else seems to love it. I was wondering if you feel the same way. What were your reasons for transfering?

I'm still waiting to hear from rutgers on my app status.

I realized TCNJ's accolades were all for liberal learning and teaching. It's engineering program is decent only if you look at mechanical, electrical, or civil. Biomedical engineering at TCNJ leaves something to be desired. I also thought there'd be more research opportunities at Rutgers. I wanted to graduate with a BS in engineering on the off-chance I don't get into med school. A BA in engineering is kind of....eh...If I stayed at TCNJ, i would have to graduate with at BA in biomedical engineering if i wanted to graduate. TCNJ is also pretty boring if you don't have a car. Parties are great and everything, but that's just about it.
