Safe to Make a College Choice by March 20?

Hey all,

I’m a high school senior who got deferred EA. I’ve been stressing about the college decision for about a year now, as I have three schools that are all neck and neck in my mind (UGA, UPitt, OSU). I’ve made a decision to visit each school one more time before early March, and I set my deadline to make a choice for March 20. I’ve already received from the other two schools, but I’m nervous that UGA won’t have it’s decisions out by then. Should this be a concern?

This is a little unclear. Do you mean you have two acceptances so far? And you are waiting hear about decisions from UGA? You realize that you don’t have to decide anything until May 1, right? Usually, you would send in a housing deposit before then, depending on the school, but why must you decide by March 20? That makes no sense.

I see no point in visiting a school you aren’t accepted to yet. Many people here would say to treat a deferral as a soft rejection, which may or may not be true, but I certainly wouldn’t revisit a college unless I was accepted.

If you didn’t hear yesterday, you will know on March 16th as per the admissions blog. The waiting part is tough. Hang in there. Good luck! http://ugaadmissions.blogspot.com/
