hi, what are some safety/match schools that offer ~aid to international students?
sat: 1430 superscored, grades are pretty solid (all A*, and 2 B’s)
How much aid is needed?
Intended major?
Extra curricular activities? Awards?
Safety schools by definition need to be affordable so posters need an idea of how much you can pay each year…
For most International students, schools in your home country are usually the only safety schools.
There are no safeties or matches that give significant aid to int’ls students…
think about it…if there were any, then suddenly a gazillion students would apply and suddenly they’d be reaches.
What’s your budget?
What do you want to major in?
Are those Alevel predicted grades, actual, or CGSE.
hi! thanks for your responses.
intended major is ~probably~ econ
need a fair amount of aid
predicted grades are 3 A* (a levels)
<<< need a fair amount of aid>>>
HOW MUCH will your parents pay each year???
And what is your SAT from ONE sitting?
Please provide an actual number: if your parents can afford 35,000 a year you still need a lot of aid (30,000)… but it’s not the same as if you can afford 15,000 or less.
What’s your family’s income?
Ok for A levels - that’s superb.
With your single-sitting scores there would be automatic scholarship universities where that also means automatic admission.
budget is ~$20k a year sorry
and single sitting 1400
…so what universities would be good matches or safeties?
I think you need to retest. A 1400 single sitting on the new SAT is about an ACT 31.
The $20k your parents will pay will only cover room, board, books fees, and maybe int’l transportation and health insurance. That means that you’d need your entire tuition to be covered by aid.
nova17, you have no safeties. No international student needing substantial financial aid, has safeties.
At this point, your SAT is too low for selective schools that guarantee to meet demonstrated need, such as Harvard or Stanford. Unless you have some outstanding accomplishments you haven’t told us about (an Olympiad, national-level athletics, a published book, etc.) you won’t be a competitive candidate for the elite schools.
If you raise your SAT/ACT a bit, you might qualify for University of Alabama’s scholarships…

The point we’re making, is that it’s HARD for an international student to receive substantial financial aid. If you don’t have the money, there is no such thing as a safety or a match for someone in your position.
Are you a senior?
UAlabama Huntsville, UAlabama Birmingham, Troy, UArkansas Monticello, FAMU, Prairie View A&M, Utah Valley would be automatic admissions with sufficient financial aid, but 1° check on the website in case conditions have changed and 2° hurry as some have deadlines soon.
Can you retest Jan 21st (I don’t know if you can late register or standby if you live abroad)? if you bring your score up to 1450 it opens up more possibilities.
Do you have unique accomplishments (as Katliamom said: national-level athlete, published author, Math or Science Olympiad winner, Chess grand master, recorded musician…)?
