I have a 3.3 unweighted GPA. By the time I have graduated, I will have taken 8 AP classes. The rest of my classes, besides a few are honors. My ACT score is 32 and super score is a 33. I am also a research intern at Vanderbilt University. Also planning to take 3 subject tests (Biology, Math 2, Physics). Extracurricular -Robotics Competitions, Robotics Club Pres, Stage Manager in Theatre Dept, Employee at Laser Quest, etc.
(I am an African American, but don't let this be a huge factor in your response please.)

I am now that my GPA is a huge limiter. I am looking for some safe/match schools that will be suitable for me. Preference for urban region schools with higher diversity. Also, schools that will provide a fair amount of needs-based, as my family is very poor.

Thanks!

Did you do questbridge at all?

Automatic tuition, fees, room, and board for your stats at Louisiana Tech, according to http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1348012-automatic-full-tuition-full-ride-scholarships-8.html . It is the Presidential Scholarship listed at http://www.latech.edu/admissions/Scholarship%20updates%20for%20website.pdf .

If you get an ACT of 34 or SAT CR+M of 1490, you can add University of Alabama - Huntsville also.

You may also want to check the net price calculators of your in-state public universities, and see if there are any full ride scholarships for in-state residents at those universities.

What is your weighted GPA on your transcript?

Tulane, George Washington U., Case Western (?). - I know these ones can be good with merit aid, but I don’t know how good they are with FA. Have you run any EFC calculators to know what you really need? You may need to focus on schools that meet 100% of need.
What about your state schools?

Hmmm, guessing that the OP is in Tennessee, I tried the net price calculators for a student from a low income family at UTK and TTU. Neither estimated much non-loan aid, leaving a net price that looked difficult to afford for a low income family. The OP would need to go through the merit scholarships available at the in-state public schools to see if there is a chance of them being affordable.

If the student is a Tenn resident then he probably qualifies for HOPE, which provides free tuition to an instate school. That plus Pell and a student loan might be enough.

I agree that UT-K may not work out, but Tenn Tech may give him merit plus HOPE and PELL, that may also be enough.

My school doesn’t weight GPA.
