so i'm interested in northwestern, vanderbilt, wash u, u texas, schools that are pretty top noch both academically and socially. i'm not obsessed with going greek but i'd like an okay greek scene. does anyone have any suggestions for safety schools that are similar?

stats? (dix caract

UGA is definitely a good social school. the frats have band parties every weekend and downtown is amazing... pretty much any fake would get you in...academics are ok...the freshman class this year had an average sat of 1250. but the honors program is really good

i had a 3.6 at the end of my first semester at nyu and i had a 3.7 graduating high school with 1340 sats or something like that and a lot of ecs... i'm hoping they wont weight hs too much. i'm thinking i'm borderline?

also, i agree that uga looks like a lot of fun but i almost applied there senior year and their app is such a pain! haha

haha...yeah the 5 essays were pretty ridiculous but this year the seniors, if they apply for early decision, don't have to write any essays, or submit ecs or recs...i was so mad when I heard that!

Um... I really wouldn't call Northwestern, WashU or Vanderbilt your "safety" schools especially when your GPA is 3.6, even if you attend NYU. The average acceptance GPA for these calibre of schools are around 3.6-3.7 and I honestly wouldn't say you have a stellar high school or college performance. I would say they are all slight reaches.
By the way, I know Frat/Sorority isn't really big at WashU but I believe Northwestern is anywhere from 30-40% Greek. That is pretty significant.

I don't believe he thinks those are safety schools, but rather schools that have is interest. And that he's wanting to find schools that have the same qualties of those schools, but easier to get into.

i know what i am and i know what i'm not, i don't need some pompous ass acting like they can decide whether i can get into a school or not, that is specificially why i think i'm "borderline" and i need SAFETY SCHOOLS, the name of the thread you douche bag

I don't understand you. We try to help you, and when we do, you argue. You need to realize your not a Harvard student, that's already made. You have a 3.6 GPA, thus you will have some good and bad news. Learn to take it, and not whine about it.

no Kinglin I really appreciate your advice, but that guy just kind of ****ed me off. Thank you for sticking up for me.

Additionally I don't think people realize here that I am asking for a suggestion of SCHOOLS... that is, the name of schools that would be a match for me. I really don't care whether they think I get into the ones I'm aiming for.

does anyone have any suggestions for safety schools that are similar?

First, dude, you need to chill. I'm sorry if I mistook your question but that was how I understood it and I gave you an honest opinion. I never intended to look like a pompous jerk or give you any harm. I just gave you what I personally thought was a fair evaluation of your stats. I simply mistook your statement and thought that you were thinking of NU and WashU as safety schools which you were apparently not. I give you my apologies and please stop bashing me for a misunderstanding.

ok... yeah my apologies too but i am in the process of applying and it's hard to hear stuff like that right now. i don't like to discuss "chances" while i'm all gung ho about applying, because every little opinion is a ego booster or deflater with no real merit. but once i get it out of the way and send it all in, then i won't mind discussing that stuff then. now that we all got that out of the way... safety schools?

there are so many. you need to tell us what you wanna study, and it seems like location isn't a problem, hehe.

art history/communications possible minor, possible premed. obviously i'm not very sure right now. i came to nyu to major in journalism and now i'm not sure that's what i want. if i do decide to continue, i'd probably just stay in new york because of the opportunity and endure nyu for four years. unless people have ideas where i can study journalism AND have a good college experience... as well as a decent city for good internship opportunities. see i'm such a picky gal... can't have it all.

"yeah, thanks a ss hole"

offensive post reported!

oh are you serious. come on... it was a heated moment
