I am an incoming freshman at WashU Sam Fox School and I am nervous about how tough the first year required courses will be. I know there are four in total (2D design, drawing, 3D design, digital studio) and we have to take two per semester in our first year. Current Sam Fox students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors, how tough are the first year studio courses and how hard is it to get good grades in those?
I wish I could answer your questions to alleviate your nervousness, but remember you got into WashU and you will be fine! I was really worried when my son decided to change to pre-med (as we had heard scary stories about freshman courses), but he learned a lot freshman year and thrived! Work hard and use your resources – there is a lot of support if you need it. Good luck and enjoy your freshman year!
