On two of my transfer apps they ask for an analytical paper from a college course.
I have a really good paper that's a B+. And I'm allowed to rewrite one paper.
But my teacher doesn't give back hand graded copies of the paper...just emails a grade.

I'm almost positive my final paper will be very good and if I re-write one it'll be good too.

Should I just hand in the B+? Which is a very good paper, IMO...or wait until my teacher grades the final/rewrite and then try to get him to give me a graded hardcopy?

Oh! The arts supplement doesn't really have a part for poetry...I am a published and performing artist. Do you think it would work in my favor to just send a copy of my book that is a compilation of my original poems and photographs to the schools?

Some schools would not consider poetry to be something for an arts supplement. You are best off asking the school directly.

Also, is your poetry published by a vanity press (ie: you pay/print as you go)? These days, in order for vanity presses to get rid of the label “vanity press” they will try to fudge the lines to cover up the fact that they are in essence a vanity press. I ask because it is incredibly rare for someone to get their poetry published by an actual reputable publishing house and small presses are even more select.

I’m just wanting to save you a little bit of time if it happens to be a vanity or vanity-esque type press as there is very little prestige in that style of publishing even if the client is enjoying the process and occasionally the works get picked up by a press.

If it is the case that you are published, then simply mentioning it somewhere on your application would be good - along with asking if the “arts” supplement includes poetry submissions.

I would submit the B+ paper OR arrange w/ the teacher for her to mail you back your revised paper w/ your new grade on it. Give her an envelop and it is likely she’d be happy to accommodate you.
