San diego state university- sdsu class of 2022 admitted students!

My initial transcripts STILL have not cleared. It has been 18 days. Should I call?

@cocoonutty: They usually state at least 2 weeks for them to be removed from your “to do list” but it cannot hurt to confirm that they received them.

Is there PDF or something that lists all the classes that fulfill different GE requirements for like humanities, comp, etc

@texcalmom if you go to https://sunspot.sdsu.edu/schedule/search you can click to search by GE for next semester and it shows you the class options

@texcalmom you can look at the student handbook and partway there it lists each class for each GE area.

If I have no credit for a senior year class due to excess absence in that class (no medical reason), does that mean SDSU might rescind me? It’s just one class.

@calidumber: Is it an a-g course? Did you get an incomplete or did you withdraw? Is the class required for graduation?

:-L

@calidumber: You need to contact SDSU admissions today and find out if it will be an issue. All AP classes are considered a-g courses. Since you self-reported the class on your CSU application, they will expect to see a grade for the class on your final transcript. As long as it is not AP English or a HS graduation requirement, you should be OK but again SDSU admissions will have the final word.

@Gumbymom will it be better than getting a D?

@calidumber: No getting a D or F could be potentially worse. Check with admissions and see what they say.

How do the placement exams work? Do we sign up and take the single test or do we have to do the ALEKS assessments first for math? I’m confused if we have to do both or just the one.
Here’s the information I’m looking at: http://studentaffairs.sdsu.edu/STAAR/precalc_prof_assessment.htm

@Gumbymom Would no credit be considered truancy? :-S

@calidumber: What is the reason for no credit? You said you had excessive absences so does that mean you did not go to class on purpose and your HS is giving you no credit but not a D or F in the class? F= No credit

Whatever the reason, you need to contact SDSU and explain before they see your final transcripts.

:@)

@calidumber so you are getting no credit as an incomplete? or are getting an F in the class? Again, as I have stated in the above posts, you need to contact SDSU admissions and let them know about the class. Your self-reported grades and courses on your CSU application need to match your final transcript. Any discrepancies and you could be rescinded so if admissions is notified now, that information can be placed in your file.

Why didn’t just withdraw from the class?

@Gumbymom It’s just going to show up as NC. I don’t think it affects ur gpa (this is not what I’m worried about) but I told college I would be taking Calc bc senior year- so idk if that would show up as me having no commitment as I have no doctor reason.

@calidumber: Just call SDSU admissions tomorrow, tell you will receive no credit for AP Calculus and see what they say. It may not make a difference but you still need to notify them prior to sending your final transcripts.

SDSU does not consider your Senior year GPA for admissions purposes, but you need to pass all classes reported on your application and maintain a similar GPA as reported. If you have a schedule change, withdraw etc… then they have to be notified.

@gothic82: You need to sign up for the Placement test but you have to do the ALEKS assessments 1-2 first (practice tests).

Follow the instructions that you linked:

You must complete Assessments 1 and 2 on your own. ALEKS PPL will display a chart showing your strengths and weaknesses. These Assessments do not satisfy the placement requirement, regardless of scores. Use the learning modules to strengthen your understanding of challenging topics.
