San Jose State Class of 2023 - Applicant Thread

@dubbe408 My gpa was 3.8 and SAT score was 1390 (750 maths and 640 reading, writing)

Does anyone know when they’re gonna be putting out the decisions this year ?

My son’s status is still decision pending. It seems like the accepted students are all from Engineering. (I could be wrong.) My son is an MIS major freshman…still waiting…

Sailing in the same boat. Still waiting for my Daughter’s decision. 4.2 GPA, 31 ACT. In state and local, applied for CS.

Any decisions for local students? My son applied and yet to hear from them.

We’re not really local but still in the SF bay area. No decision yet.

SJSU updated the status but the status update is a little confusing compared to other CSUs. While others say that he is provisionally admitted and mentions the major, this one says "Admit by self reported data-F "
Wonder what that means. I assume F is for Freshman

@Kassie73 My D’s status changed to that today too. This is what I found on the SJState Admissions Website:
__
Automated Admission based on your self-reported application data - Freshman admit - not able to register (AAF)
You have been admitted based on self-reported information and are pending verification of:

Minimum impaction threshold required for your major.
College Preparatory subjects.
__
There is also a Congrats letter in her Messages.

Oh yes. We got that too. Thank you. Good to know others got similar notifications. Congratulations to your daughter.

Accepted by: Admit by Self-Reported Data-F
3.5 GPA, 1220 SAT
However I can’t accepted/decline? SJSU is my #1 choice so I’d just like to register ASAP lol

@madeinthebay: Usually it takes 24-48 hours after the initial acceptance before the accept/decline is available.

@Gumbymom My EI is around 70 below the threshold for Software Engineer, are there any chances for me?

@shinyu113: The EI threshold can fluctuate from year to year so there is always a chance. All you can do is wait and see what happens with your decision.

My D got into CS major(Her first choice). Just checked the portal.

@Gumbymom I think they just published the Impaction for freshmen this year. I’m a little bit below it, so I’m a bit worried. If I don’t meet the minimum EI, does it mean that I’m likely to be rejected?

@Janaki: Congratulations to your D. What is her EI so other applicants can compare?

@shinyu113: Wow, that was quick in publishing those thresholds. If you are below that threshold, then you will not get into SE but if you listed an alternate major, they may accept you into that major if you meet the EI.

Wow I’m disappointed with the way the EI changed this year for Environmental Studies. Last 2 years the EI was around 3000 and now this year its 3600 and my son’s EI is around 3450. His second choice was Geography which remained at 3000 for this year (and I would have had him to pick that first had I known). No decision yet but I’m not very hopefully as there weren’t any applicants admitted with their alternative majors in 2018.
