My advise to future applicants - Be sure to have a safe college selected. I thought it was UCSJ, picked CSUMB as a last minute decision because everyone was warning me how competitive Computer Science is to get into now.

So I got accepted as a transfer student. My counselor said that this year SJSU requires 2 PE classes pre-transfer, so I’m thinking of leaving the 2 classes for Summer quarter. But then in the acceptance email from SJSU it stated that Summer quarter can’t be used to fulfill prerequisites. Do I HAVE to take the 2 PE classes this spring? because I’m already taking 3 classes and don’t want to die before my transfer just yet.

@Hollywings , that doesn’t sound right. According to:
http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/static/admission/transfer-req.html
which was updated last on 2/9/16 as of my posting, transfer admission reqs are just that you have 60 sem / 90 qtr units by end of spring 2016 with the stipulations of:
-overall GPA of 2.0+
-30 sem / 45 qtr units of GenEd, which must include the Golden Four
-Rank preference given to those students who have a higher GPA and/or more major prereqs completed

Says nothing about PE requirements. I know it is very common in the recent past that transfer students transfer in without PE with intention to take PE at SJSU, and I’ve heard nothing that states SJSU has changed that policy.

@donutkiller, CS is the toughest admit for SJSU and you need a minimum EI of 4550 for this year and last was 4300. Your EI is 2828. If you look at the link below, your EI does not qualify you for any majors at SJSU since the minimum is 2900.

http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/static/admission/frosh-f2015impact.html

@tonytomato Congrats I’m also a transfer student accepted as a graphic design major :).

@Gumbymom so i have no chance in getting in?
although my second major is economics.

@donutkiller: Did you check the link I posted? The minimum EI is 2900 for SJSU If your CSU GPA and SAT scores are correct, you fall below the minimum EI required.

This is from the CSU website::
If you are a California high school graduate (or a resident of California for tuition purposes), you need a minimum eligibility index of 2900 using the SAT combined score for critical reading and math sections or 694 using the ACT.

Did you work with your HS counselor in regards to your eligibility and college list? They should have told you based on your stats, you are ineligible to apply to the CSU’s based on your EI. I suggest you consider 2 years at a community college and then transfer. There are articulation agreements between local CC’s and SJSU.

http://www.sjsu.edu/admissions/impaction/supplementalapp/suppapphelpguide/index.html#ADT
EI= (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR)

@Gumbymom yeah I did check, just thought if I had chance or not. Which CC do you prefer?
foothill College or De Anza? Cause I only applied to foothill and got in for the Fall.

@donutkiller: Check assist.org for each CC and see which has the most Transferable CS courses.

@donutkiller If you go to a CC ask for an IGETC sheet or the CSU transfer sheet and pick your classes yourself. Trust me you will finish way faster if you do it yourself (I finished in 2 years while my friends fin is he’d in 3-4). Just look at what you need and take at least 15 units a semester and you will done in no time.

Thank you so much
