Santa Clara University or Clemson?

For a kid from New England deciding between the schools as a business major.

I think we need more info.

Where else are you applying?

What are your stats?

Will your family pay for either school?

What do you like in a college? Clemson is a big school with more rah rah and in a more rural area. Santa Clara is a small/med Jesuit private college.

I already got into both, and was planning on SCU. However Clemson is closer (same coast) to home and isn’t on the trimester system. They’re both very different experiences.

yes they’re both completely different experiences. Funny because I knew someone at Clemson who transferred to Santa Clara for engineering (it was closer to home on the west coast).

Santa Clara is the business school so I’d go there unless you determine that distance is really important to you. To be honest as someone from Boston - Clemson isn’t that close that you will be going home that often.

Let me know if you have any questions about Clemson!

Unless you’d be driving to Clemson, the distance isn’t really relevant. Once you have to fly across several states, a few more doesn’t matter.

What are your parents saying? Are they both equally affordable?

what is your fear about Trimesters?

pierre how is being in the south for someone from new england? also why did you end up picking it?

the trimesters paired with the 3 hour time difference would make it hard to stay in touch with people on the east coast from home.

It’s not that bad - the weather is nice, people are nice and it has a nice feel to it (people are a lot more laid back vs. people in Boston). I ended up picking Clemson because I wanted to get away from New England and experience something new for college (applied to a bunch of schools in the south and midwest).

Don’t worry about the 3 hour difference and trimester problem. In reality you probably won’t be keeping as close contact with people in high school as you would like to (happens when people scatter all over the country). You’ll still get to see them over the summer.
