Last night I officially got my rejection from UCF and two acceptances from University of Alabama and University of Tennessee. I just don't have the money to go out of state, forcing me to take the CC route. So here goes:

My high school GPA tanked because of tons of factors, ranging from having to work in order to supplement income after my father was diagnosed with cancer to terrible bullying incidents my freshman year. I have full detailed posts about my situation in my UCF and Alabama threads, but I feel that's a little irrelevant.

Now that the CC route is almost official, I'm willing to take this clean slate and do my best with it. I basically want to know what are acceptable ranges in GPA and test scores in order to transfer from Santa Fe to the University of Florida, to Duke University, and George Washington University. I also have (will have) tons of AP credit:

AP Credit Received:
AP World History (4)
AP United States History (4)
AP English Language (4)
AP Comparative Government (3)
AP Spanish Language (5)

Expected AP Credit (with reasonable, predicted scores)
AP French (4-5)
AP English Literature (3-4)
AP Statistics (4-5)
AP Macroeconomics (5)
AP Microeconomics (4, maaaaayyyyybe a 5)
AP American Government (5)
AP Psychology (I really have no idea. My performance on tests have been all over the place)

*AB Calculus (2-3), but hypothetically let's assume I get a 2. I'd rather be surprised then disheartened.

I'm a Florida student wanting to major in Economics and, if possible, double major in Political Science. 1) How quickly could I be able to go through Santa Fe given the info above and assuming I take the summer term as well as the fall term? and 2) What are acceptable GPA ranges from Santa Fe for UF, Duke, and George Washington?

Judging by your AP scores, the number you took, and you confidence, it makes no sense that you wont get into Santa Fe. With your experience in AP, you will breeze through CC (as it is mostly gen ed). As a transfer student, your HS GPA wont matter anymore, just your CC. I am certain your efforts, if the same as in AP, will get you the qualities to get in UF. Duke and the other school are kinda different, and I cant give much input on that. I cant stress enough the importance of getting involved. Clubs and volunteering really help. Best of luck.

Thank you very much for your input! How are the extracurriculars at Santa Fe? Is it true that some clubs from UF allow Santa Fe students to participate?

I’ve never really been good with “busy work.” I know the information well enough to get A’s and B’s on the test, but I’m not really good at doing homework when I don’t need to. Of course, I’ve always done my work when I need help with the concept. How’s Santa Fe with the amount of bs work? My ideal class would literally be like three tests and that’s it.

I just think you need to take the right prequiste classes for your major, and just kick ass in them.

Sit down with the Santa Fe adivsor and determine which classes you need for UF to take, being so close, Santa Fe should easily be able to get the right classes.
