Hey,

Anyone here applying to Sarah Lawrence College?

Sahil

I’ve created a facebook group as well.

[Sarah Lawrence College Class of 2015](<a href=“Sarah Lawrence College Class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook”>Sarah Lawrence College Class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook)

I was going to, but someone here advised me not to as they offer little FA to Int’l’s and the amount declines every successive year.

That is not true at all. The one thing all websites and everyone looks over is the amount of aid SLC gives. It is actually a very generous college. Just apply. No harm done.

Are you working in the Admissions Dept. as a student intern?
Oh well. I guess I know where to get all my Sarah Lawrence info now!
Is Sarah Lawrence looking favourably at Indian applicants? What is it’s acceptance rate for Int’ls asking for aid?

Crazysah is a freshman at SLC. I have him on my Facebook. Pretty helpful :)

SLC is a great college but it’s super-expensive.

I visited SLC this year. Not for me. It was too “out-there” for me. I wanted more of a traditional college experience.

Yeah. As Putturani said, Sarah Lawrence is nowhere near a traditional college. We don’t have exams and we interview the professors for the classes!

If anyone wants to add me on FB then please PM me with your profile link and I’ll add you.

Wait.

NO exams?

:O

<.<

How are students assessed then?

Well, some classes may have exams and tests but mostly not. We have to do one big conference paper every class, every semester. We are graded on that.

@Crazysah, i so badly want to apply. SLC offers an amazing writing programme, i hear. Its exemplifies the true nature of an LAC. But i dunno, they require the applicant to have written a research paper {attested by the school}. unfortunately, i dont have one, and its too late to write one. So i guess that i’ll have to give it a pass :((

also, to anyone applying, SLC has good, challenging supplement essay prompts.

Sorry for the way late reply but you can still apply. I didn’t have a research paper. I just wrote one and then got it graded by my teacher. Mine was only like 5 pages. It’s not hard. Do it and apply!

I wanna apply there too…but…I hav 2 problems.

FA…I need it desperately. There is no way I can afford SLC without Financial aid. So just wanted to know, what is the criteria of giving Aid in the Uni? How much can the amount be?

I hav absolutely no idea how to work with my supplement. I mean, the essay and the project. I have a Business studies project from class 11th, where I had searched (not googled, searched) over internet and collected info. The thing is, it is handwritten. The supplement says I need comments/grades of the essay on it. So I was wondering…Should I just scan it and send as a compressed file, or type it and send in form of a document? If I type it, the grade won’t appear, and if I don’t, there is no guarantee it will be accepted.

Help me out with this one?

I don’t understand why SLC needs a research thesis. That requirement surely deters many good competitive applicants from applying!

They are SATs optional, so they need SOME basis to know that the children applying are capable…ryt?

In any case, I have to know what I need to do. The deadline is not far off…Somebody help!!!

Then just be like the others and require the SATs because all students who apply to the states take it anyway! :)

@Meghna147:

The aid is given based on how much your parents make and has nothing to do with the decision you get about getting in or not.

It doesn’t have to be something researched that well. You can just make a new one. Make sure it does have like some small research done and your analysis. Also make sure you then get it graded from one of your teachers.

Yes, scan it and upload it and also send a copy with your application as well.

My writing is a mess…I will type it too, just in case…

Thnx sah…Its a relief that my financial situation wont affect my app…TG!!

Yeah no problem. You can add me on Facebook also if you have anything else to ask or say.
