I always thought it was a rule of thumb that you should not take the SAT more than 3 times, but 3 times is okay for ivy leagues. However, lately people have been telling me that you should take it no more than 2 times? What's the deal? Can anyone who got into ivy leagues tell me how many times they took their SATs?

If we’re counting all the times, 4. But one is completely invalid, I think, because it’s too old, from 2004. And the one from 2006, I wasn’t in HS yet.
So, two.
However, at present, CB has introduced score choice, which allows students to send only some of their scores. As far as some schools know, I only took the SAT once.
It doesn’t really matter all that much, If you’re going to significantly improve, the slight negative opinion an adcom might get of how you spend your time from seeing 4 or 5 SAT scores will be more than effaced by the increased score.
