~SAT 2 Biology Review Thread~

More people get 800 on M than E. But I think the curves are pretty much the same. The CB book gives the same raw score for 800.

It was: Which of these is ball and socket and had a picture of a skeleton.

Bohr shift: Hemoglobin’s affinity for oxygen decreases with an increase in CO2 concentration.

Explain the difference between C3, C4, and CAM plants.

^Yeah, that was the only question I missed on the test =(
Never studied joints sigh

lol?

C3 plants use normal chemical pathways (majority of plants)
C4 plants use different chemical pathways than C3 plants
CAM keep their stomata closed during day and open during night (to save water)

I’m confused about water and osmosis into cells. If water cannot touch the phospholipid tails, then how does it cross the membrane?
I read in one of the review books that there are actually many specific channels in the cell that are used for the osmosis of the water (that makes it facilitated diffusion). Is that true?

LOL DataBox, oh dear god, the correct version of that sentence would be : It’s when one uses another organism to control the growth of some specific “pest” organism
By no means was I making any innuendos…haha… okay…that was very e-awkward…lol

and @ Protagonizer.

They actually move passively through these special transport proteins known as aquaporins. And as a trivia question…who discovered this?

Next Question: Hydra secrete which type of nitrogenous waste?

ammoniA
…

what is the sperm(pollen, microspore… idk which it is really called) producing structure of a gametophyte?

Haha, it’s all good meadow.

The answer to that would be antheridium.

the equivalent of a placenta in an avian egg is… ?

Before meadow answers that question with her bio-awesomeness, I’d like to suggest that that question may be outside the scope of the SAT Biology Subject Test.

The test seems variegated… some weird topics  hypochondriac syndrome

Oh Oh Allantois!!!

Describe the process of oogenesis.

And, what is double fertilization in plants?

I believe Oogenesis is the formation of oognium by FSH? (not an oocyte)

Double fertilization occurs in plants when one of the haploid nuclei in the pollen drills into the stigma and then into the ovule. One of the remaining sperm fertilizes the ova which goes on to become the seed and the other sperm fertilizes the polar bodies which become to cotyledon.

Right about double fertilization, not oogenesis.

oogenesis is just the formation of the ovum and the three polar bodies

Hey Guys do you know which curve is better: Ecology or Molecular??? thanks

and if you get a chance can you please help me out with this: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-subject-tests-preparation/725795-bio-e-m.html

ok guys I just went to barnes and nobles to do some studying and take some tests and I did one out of PR and there are like a ton of qthe se dumb lab questions and graph stuff what is up with that, the Barrons and the collegeboard test never ask this much stuff

Weird… SparkNotes also had lots of lab questions.

Well everyone…

Good luck!!

You’ll do amazingly, especially Meadow and Sohaib. :)

hoping for an 800 and will show my teacher my true potential(she doesnt realize that people actually look at the review books, since even thoguh she never taught us some immune and aniaml behavior and plant stuff she thinks well fail on it)-its an 800 or else the head come off…according to my dad
