I thought the test was ok… I think I left like 3 blank… Some of classification questions confused be a little. like the one where like all the compounds reacted with different solids/other aqueous solution and you had to choose and identify the products…
what do yall think the curve is going to be like?
Btw, May 2010 had the same exam http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-subject-tests-preparation/919638-may-2010-chemistry-p1.html
? are you sure? im looking at the questions and they look quite different
All the questions on that thread were on my exam… maybe there were different exams? Did any of you guys have True/False section question about an energy diagram A->B and asking about the rate in comparison to reverse. Then, for the first couple of questions of the whole test, it was about bonds.
haha no i didnt get any energy diagram about rates or reverse rates at all
What did people put for the one that had the U tube and equal water levels in and out, it wuz a t/f question
i put ff hbu?
Everyone on r/sat is saying T T ce for that one
I put t t ce
I think you are right…pretty sure that was a trick question since there is also vapour pressure of water to consider > <
Can anyone please tell me the answer for the question that asked the no of atoms/mass of the atoms of oxygen (i dont exaclty remember the question) was it starting with a 4 or 7?
It was something like (coefficient greater than 1)Z(XO2)4 So the answer must have been greater than 8…
But there was no option as such. There were three whole numbers less than 8 and the last two answers in standard form starting with a 4 and a 7. And i think it had something to do with avogadros.
Does anyone remember that question?
There were two options that had answers that were no. of atoms times avogadro’s but then there were three whole number answer options
@loveplants what did you choose?
I am just reading this thread now and I forgot everything about the questions LOL U-tube have one side exposed to the atomsphere and the other exposed to the actual gas pressure. So basically, if the gas pressure is 0, then the water level is only affected by the atmosphere so they would be equal. I don’t know what vapor pressure you are talking about though. There’s nothing about vapor pressure I’ve read about in U-tubes in Barrons and Pressure. I think you mean gas pressure.
All in all, my test went good. I had 7 questions I wasn’t 100% sure on… it was basically like 2 similar answers. I checked online and I got around 3-4 correct of the 7 I wasn’t sure on and I definitely got 3 wrong. If I count silly mistakes and guessing penalty, I think I got 78-79/85. And trust me, this test will definitely have a generous curve. All my friends agreed that this test was HARDER than the released collegeboard exam. So It won’t be 81/85 to get an 800. For example, last year’s June SAT BIO E/M’s curve was hella generous because it was incredibly difficult. I would probably say this test would be around 79 to get an 800. (maybe 77 if it was really difficult for others)
Posting this for CCers to see in the future.
I took Chem honors 10th grade, Chem AP 11th (gonna be a senior next year)
I took the Subject test in May in the middle of a bunch of AP exams. I did not have much time to prep, I only did a couple of practice tests. Let me tell you, taking Chem AP should be enough to get you a perfect score. Don’t worry about all the random stuff in the book like organic compounds, colors of stuff, composition of the atmosphere. There will be 0-2 questions on this stuff.
If you are a good student in Chemistry, just familiarize yourself with the format of the test and you should be good for a 750+.
I just saw my 800 today!
BTW I got like 760-780s on PRINCETON Practice Tests. I find all review books include extraneous information. Princeton, though, is accurate for the most part, in my opinion.
I prepared for May SAT chem exam along with AP Chemistry exam. It was quite stressful because I forced myself to leave school around 6 pm everyday for 2 weeks. I never bought any prep book but did almost 20 practice tests found around the google (cracksat is good). Got 800 although I omitted 1 question.
