**SAT 2 Math II Discussion Thread Nov 2015**

The question was
f(x) = -|x|
So the answer is is x.

Can someone retype the question

And what were you supposed to do

The negative was inside the absolute value signs

^wait what? No the negative sign was inside the absolute value

@Gunblood222
It was like if x is a negative value what other way could you write the function f(x) = -|x|.

What were you supposed to do like what did the question ask

@Chrysanthemum14 if it was X, it wouldn’t work. Plug in 1 for X. 1 does not equal negative 1. The negative sign was inside the absolute value signs: f(X)=|-f(X)|

It never specified that X had to be negative either

I am so confused right now. @Gunblood222 @Chrysanthemum14 did u guys get something like just x^2 though or were there like two similar questions

I think there were 2 similar questions cuz I remember getting x squared for something

@yolomaster98 I think they got the question confused it was x^2

What did you guys get for the f(9/2) trig problem , and the portion of a trig graph problem

@jaimik
Maybe I’m thinking of a different question? Because the one I’m thinking of had a - outside of the absolute value. Pretty certain.

For the f(9/2) I got 3/4. f(x) = g(x) ONLY for x between 0 and 2. Since g(x) is periodic with a period of 2, f(9/2) is the same as f(1/2) 2(1/2) - (0.5*0.5) = 3/4

what was the x^2 question? and 44 is 790 wtf

And what about f(5) inverse

No im pretty certain the answer was just X on that one previously mentioned i put - X tho. If it stated x<0 then the answer wouldve been just X

Yes you are right. The negative sight was outside of the abs. value. and the x <0 was a condition so the answer I got was x.

44 could be 800 still this time
