**SAT 2 Math II Discussion Thread Oct 2015**

What are some good books to prep with? This is my second retake (first time I got a 710) and now I got a 690. I’ve used Barron’s and Chung’s and score between 750-790 on all the practice tests within time, so I don’t know whats going on!!!

I’m desperate to at least get a 770. Also is a 750 bad for Bio E?

The difference between a 780 and an 800 is statistically insignificant IMO. Even if you were to retake and get an 800, this could hurt you, as some of these colleges that evaluate holistically may wonder if there is more to you than a test taking drone who has nothing better to do on a Saturday.

Move on. Do not retake.

I can’t believe what I am seeing on my screen…650. After taking it the first time and omitting 8 and getting much more wrong, my score I got today is lower than than score (660). I left one blank and checked my answers with friends and only got a few wrong. I got 700+ on barron’s and felt confident throughout the whole test and actually finished it…no way I did that badly. I guess I’m gonna try to do the rescore and see what happens, but this was the last time to take it since apps are due soon. I really don’t know why this happened…

800!!! retook a 780. didn’t practice. god bless

zawadscki, the same thing happened to me. I was so confident that I had scored well. Omitted 3, thought I had missed one or two at max. Somehow, I got a 710, and the only thing I can think of is a bubbling error but I was so sure my bubbles matched up.

We can’t rescore on subject tests though, can we?

@Ghgkslfhsla Honestly, I’m just gonna cut my losses and take the november test… I thought I was done with standardized testing, but I guess not. At this point, its probably not worth doing a rescore…I’ll just try again in november.

@zawadscki I’m taking the regular SAT one more time in November, so I can’t to that. I hope the retake goes better for you though!

Now I just gotta figure out if it’s better to send out my 720 (from the first time) or just not send the subject test scores at all.

@Ghgkslfhsla 3rd time doing this…I swear to god I did well, but I’ll just keep on practicing. Best of luck to you on your SAT. I think you should send the 720 (assuming you are a senior), anything over a 700 is a great score for a subject test.

80!! so happy

  1. Easy Peasy. I finished the test and reviewed every problem about 10-15 minutes before the time was up. I am pretty sure that I got every single question right, although it could be the case that I made silly mistakes on one or two questions. If anyone wants any tip, message me.

I meant to send a message to Gravitity only but I think I screwed up and sent it to like everyone on the thread. PLEASE disregard it.

what did you guys get on your practice tests??

Any 800 scorer who also scored 800 on his/her practice tests?

Got a 680 on Barron’s and an 800 on the real thing.

Took it on my sophomore year and got an 800.
And yes I finished Calculus last year.

Oh my gosh I’m so worried, I’m skimming through barons, I just started bc I finished AP calc last year so I thought it would be fine, but i see so many concepts I’ve never touched on. Are the questions for conic, coordinates in 3D, imaginary numbers, and complex numbers difficult/thorough? Or is Barons just over prepping me ;_;

@xoxocatz There will probably be one question (if not none) on each of those topics (conics, imaginary numbers, coordinates in 3D), which won’t be very difficult. But you should know all the concepts in Barrons to guarantee an 800.

How are princeton’s review and McGrawHill’s prep tests in comparison to the real test?

@unready thanks! but would you say that the tests in the Baron’s book contain harder questions than the actual test?

@nadinem123 I only used Barron’s and PR. PR is very very similar to the real test, but a little bit easier.

@xoxocatz Yep. Harder questions which require the use of the graphing calculator more so than the actual test does.
