yes the circle and the chords was a single law of sines problems giving you 7.99

ferniesoccer1: I don’t recollect the question, but 1.57 sounds like an answer I had.

yeah its hard to explain the problem. You had two triangles. One was very skinny and had an extremely small angle. An angle less than 20 coul have been 5 degrees or 15. then it gave you the length of the horizontal leg of one of the triangle and asked you for the length of the right leg. Still a vague description sorry. was one of the middle 50 percent problems if that helps

Anyone recall the triangle questions that had an answer of 1.57 or 1.75

ohhh ferniesoccier i remember what you’re talking about. the reallllyy slim angle ended up being 7 degrees. i can’t remember what i got though :[

anyone put 0 and 1 for the f(x)nx question. Have slight hopes its 0 and 1 but i think the answer is 1 and -1

yea it had a tiny angle

how important is the difference of a 790 from 800 to caltech

The nx question was 1 or -1

i got 1 and -1

because 1 x (1)n = n
and -1 x (-1)n = n

ok well thats only 2 skipped and one wrong hopeing for an 800

I think 790 is still okay for Caltech, but their statistics seem to be pretty uptight about the math scores.

ok another what score would this be
im pretty disappointed in myself and probs wont use it (u can send one test in, but not the other, right?)

11 omit, 2 wrong
and 11 omit 7 wrong

so i can get some rangee
thanks :)

kflaksdjfaskjgajd I died on this test hahhah. First one at 8 in the morning, bleh. Hopefully I’ll make the curve for you lovelies a bit better though :)

I thought this test wasn’t hard, just long. I sucked at time management and ended up skipping 2-3. But I’m generally quite good at math. Assuming I don’t miss many, is it possible for me to get an 800? I know in Barron’s the curve is like 5-6 questions, but what is it for the real thing?

yup its 1.57. I remember that. And for the 7.99 one, if I recall correctly, the answer had to have been eight right?

Cuz i dotnt hink 7.99 was a choice and I remember getting that, but eight was a choice so I just put that …

Does that sound about right?

UGHHH RAN OUT OF TIME AND HAD TO RUSH. i’m in bc calc and i thought it was hard… i forgot everyyythinngnggngngngggg :(

p.s. i got 700 and 750 on barron’s tests but i left 5 blank on this one and guessed on like 4. ahhh it got me in a bad mood

If you find your raw score, which is number right - (1/4)#wrong…
Then your score is usually 800- 10(44-S), where S<=44
If S>=44, you should get an 800…This is how BARRON’S does it, so it’s just a sort of normal curve that you might expect but not definite.
Raw Score: Out of 800:
44 800
43 790
42 780
41 770
40 760
39 750
…
29 650
…
19 550

So it’s a pretty lenient curve as far as getting over 700.

If I omitted 4 and probably got 3 wrong, my raw score is a 42.25. Is that actually a 790 most of the time?

U see ngstar, i think i have a certain penchant for math too. But the problem is i have a case OCD when im taking any sort of test!!! I’m always driven to check even the easiest problems 4 or 5 times. I think thats why i omitted 10 problems! I was shocked when the proctor called out “5 MINUTES!”

I will definitely improve on this before the June test : )
