SAT/ACT Score Differences

I have taken the ACT once and the SAT twice. My highest scores on the SAT were a 690 for Math and a 680 for reading. (I got a 1370 M+V using superscore) Using the data in my score report, I know I am at about the 90th percentile.

On the ACT, I didn't do as well in math and got a 28, but I got a 34 in reading. (I got a 30 composite) Even though the score is about the same, the ACT ranks me in the 97th percentile nationally overall. Does anyone know what could explain the difference in percentiles even though both of my overall scores are similar? Thanks!

You are trying to compare apples to oranges. It's just how it is. Well, you actually did better on the Reading on the ACT though.

690 Math = 92nd percentile
680 Reading = 93rd percentile
Average ~ 92.5th percentile

28 Math = 92nd percentile
34 Reading = 98th percentile
Average ~ 95th percentile
