Do any successful transfer students recommend retaking the SAT if planning to apply as a second year transfer student? How important do you think SAT scores will be and do you recommend studying hardcore for the exams?

I am curious about this question too, I have no sat/act scores because i went to HS abroad.
Just keeping the thread.

GrandK, I am in same situation and I am taking SAT this fall. It cannot hurt.

2 YAHA, some Universities don`t requite them,f.e John Hopkins,WUsLous,Cornell.

Have you tried to apply to them?

Cornell is one of those on my list; however, I will be applying for Fall 2010(deadline is Feb 1st for most schools). I just thought that having a decent SAT scores may compensate somewhat for lack of academic reference letters and the fact that I have been out of loop for 3 years. ;)

I think it purely depends on the University you’re applying to. Universities such as that of Yale require that their transfer applicants to take SAT I or ACT with Writing. However, I’m not quite sure if you need to score extremely well, considering that you may have extracurriculars and other activities.
