SAT and ACT scores and colleges

I took the SAT once in November and didn't do nearly as well as I like (score <1700, no studying). I think I will do much better (with studying, of course) on the ACT. My question is, if I do well on the ACT (let's say 30+), will colleges care that I didn't do so well on the SAT? I already stupidly sent my SAT scores to colleges I'm planning on applying to. I'll definitely take the SAT again if I need to to raise my scores, but if I do really well on the ACT, will colleges consider my first SAT scores at all?

Thanks.

Your mistake is not sending the SAT scores to schools, but taking the test without preparation. Anyway, most schools would look at the best scores. It does not matter if you retake the SAT or switch over to ACT (or both). Nevertheless, you should do a thorough preparation with practice tests before taking any of them. Once you reached a plateau in practice, you should know what score you are going to get.

Thanks.
