SAT AND ACT - When do we send off results?

When do we send off the results and how does this work? If you sit them in, say June and you don't apply until December or whatever, do you just send them at that time?

Since most colleges receive scores electronically these days and can keep them in a database, it doesn’t matter much when you send the scores. I suggest you use your 4 free score reports when you take the test, and order the remaining score reports closer to the application deadlines. Wait until you are settled on a final list of colleges to apply to.

From recent experience, I recommend you send your scores at least 7 days before the deadline so that it gets there on time w/ your application. Usually, however, schools are flexible about when the scores reach them as long as they are on time for review. Do not send scores before you decide where to apply, though, and remember, your list will probably change even until the last minute, esp if you apply to 20 schools.

Okay. So, if I sit them next year in Spring which is when I’ll be in year 12, when would I receive the results and when should I send them?

If your school has Year 12 and Year 13, you’d take the tests in year 12 and get 4 results sent to your safety schools at that time. Then you’d either retake the tests in the Fall of Year 13 and send 4 more scores along with that test, or not retest and send your earlier results in the Fall/ Winter along with your application. You’d order them directly from the testing agency, unless your guidance counselor includes htem on your transcripts.

Okay, so, I was planning on taking the ACT this October (my first term of year 12) and then the SAT II’s next May or June (my final term of year 12). I would then apply in August/September. Do I ask the results to be sent STRAIGHT there even before I apply or withhold them until I make my application?

Sorry. I know this comes across quite stupid but I just haven’t had it explained to me properly before. Thanks!

You indicate the schools when you register for the test. You can also request extra scores to be sent later. Be aware that many selective schools will need your Year 13 Term 1 Results and if you have any board exam results any national exams from earlier years they’ll want spoof of that too.

Right. Okay. What about if you apply early action? If I apply early action then I cannot provide Year 13 Term 1 Results for that college…

No your admission will rest solely on your Year 10, 11, and 12 results + test scores. Depending on who writes your recommendations, you may include one Year 13 teacher though.
Be aware that you can be “rescinded” (de-admitted) if your Year 13 results aren’t on par with your Year 12 results, to the point to get D’s and F’s.

What are your grades and test scores, OP? ECs?

I will private message you, International95.

I am aware of this. Okay, thank you anyway, MYOS1634.
