@Center I had already signed up for the test before I got my score, and by the time I learned I could cancel it was too late without paying a fee. >_<
@luciole ah gotcha. Well congrats!!
The grid-ins messed me up and the essay passage was a bit dry. But other than that I thought the test was relatively easy.
Without discussing any test questions, can someone who has taken the SAT in January or May (each which had a lenient curve in one section) and the August one, compare the math, writing, and reading section difficulties. I know this is subjective, but subjective opinions still give information. (:
Why do they wait so late to release scores? They should treat it like the ACT and release the scores within 2 weeks
…I’m nervous. :-&
Me too. I want to know so bad. I think for the October SAT, they’ll start releasing scores 2 weeks after the test was taken. Ugh how I wish this was implemented for this test…
The website says scores released Sept 18th. And, yes, starting with the Oct test, scores will be released in two weeks. S19 already signed up for Oct 7th test. Unless he got nearly a perfect score on the Aug test (LOL not likely), he will take it again on that date.
My D thought the test was fairly easy. She has been drilling on math with practice tests all summer. She was able to finish both sections and go over all questions again and still had 15 minutes to spare. Overall she thought she did well. Hope to have the testing behind us after this.
@Veryapparent my kid reported the same generally. it will be interesting to see how the reported feelings about the test translate into scores…
Did they change the score release date for this test in the last week or two? I looked it up a week or so ago and could swear that it was the 15th, but now is the 18th.
I goggled it and got Sept 15 but then the CB site said sept 18 for test and sept 20 for essay. I think they changed it.
I felt the test wasn’t hard, but people on reddit are saying Reading was very hard and Reading is my weakest subject on the test so I’m not sure whether I missed a lot! Some of the reading questions made no sense to me, but for most of those questions I eliminated the answers that didn’t sound like they were in the passage or contradicted the passage, which gave me a plausibly correct answer for each of the questions.
Sorry, late to the party guys. Total bummer that the scores will be released later than initially reported. S19 indicated that the math seemed a bit easier than the CB practice tests and the CRW seemed on par. He and D19 compared some of the questions in the car ride home and identified one reading question they disagree on. It was fun listening to them compare (okay, a bit nerve racking too for fear that they would disagree on each question). It’s our first test so have no idea what to expect. Agree that the curve will not be generous on the math, leaving little to no room for error. The waiting has begun…
The release date for this particular test administration has been a moving target. A couple of months ago it was set for September 21st, then a few weeks ago it was reset to the 15th (with scores going out to the colleges on the 14th), now in the last few days it has been set for release on Monday, 18th. We have a number of saved completed applications that have been waiting to be submitted online for several schools but have held them because they were requesting self-reported SAT scores to be included and so we wanted this test result to also be included with the others that are being reported.
Hate to be the odd man out but this test was MUCH harder than the one I took before. (June). I was like WOAH! …I suppose the reading was more difficult but reading is my worst part of the sats so can’t really say much about that. Writing felt generally the same… and the math section was just a blur of anger for me because those grid ins were freaking hard! The test in June shocked me with the results (got above the 90th percentile!) I only studied for a week so mayyybe it’ll happen again but I highly doubt it just because compared to the june math section, this section at least for me was more difficult. The essay prompt was the same ol same ol. But i don’t care what any of y’all are saying but this test overall was MUCH harder than the june one. When I left the testing center for the june one I thought to myself wow, that was not so bad but this one just felt like a disaster. I studied moreso in the math section but clearly that was a bust. (I only studied for 3 days for this test). Definitely taking it again in october…this time I’ll prepare for a month lol. Also, the people at my school (about 10 kids) felt like the test was much harder than the june one so I’m just very appalled by everyone saying this test was easy. Perhaps the test situation felt bad for me because my stupid test proctor’s phone went off midway and we started testing an hour and a half late. Plus, the whole entire testing center was filled to the brim…Just a bad day for testing for me and my friends I suppose. Grrr…
I felt that I did ok, but I definitely have doubts about a few questions on each section. I had finished with extra time to check my answers on the Math Calc and Writing, but for the reading and Math Nocalc I finished exactly on time–I didn’t get to check my answers much. I am not expecting anything crazy this time and I most probably will have to take it again in October.
P.S. I am a rising junior.
That’s awesome if you are going to get over a 1500!
My D thought it felt easier compared to the May test but she studied all summer so let’s hope it felt easier!
It will be very interesting to see how everyone does. My kid hadnt done particularly great on the practice tests until the last one. Thought the actual test “seemed really easy” It is hard to know if it seemed easy for some due to practice or because it was overly tricky. Sweating bullets…
Good luck to everyone!
My kids found very hard to guess their scores. They knew the material well so it was not like they had no idea how to solve the problems. The issue was always their careless mistakes and that was hard to gauge.
