** January 21, 2017 SAT (US)

Hey guys, I have not seen a thread for this SAT so I decided to make one myself. How do you guys think you did? I personally think that while the reading was easy compared to the other practices tests and the writing was on par, the math section was harder than the released tests.

The math no-calc killed me :(( I guessed at least 6 for that section, the calc section wasn’t too bad though so idk how they’re gonna curve it

How did u guys do on writing

I thought reading was harder than normal, writing was easier, and math secs were abt normal.

i thought the reading was easier

writing felt a bit harder to me but that’s cuz i only got 3 wrong the last time. felt more iffy about stuff than i did last time.

math felt a bit so-so, last time i thought it was easy and i ended up doing horrible (but that’s also cuz i ran out of time and left a ton blank) and this time i had time left over, i feel i only truly guessed on 5 and left 2 of the write-ins blank. but they were educated guesses so we’ll see how it goes.

i feel i did better on the essay though tbh i never studied so im not sure if i did everything they wanted me to do…i just did the ol rhetorical analysis type of essay but this time i was a lot more focused and clear so hopefully that pays off.

Yeah I see your point on the tone change with armed. I guess setback was a bit too vague for me.

What do you guys think the curve will be like for this test?

yea thats what i put

for the dragon

in writing

I think that that math no calc was harder than usual with the math calc being about right, so the curve could be normal for math

what about the curve for writing/reading

I don’t think we’ll get much of a curve for writing. Reading in my opinion was harder and I usually do really well on reading. Lots of people say reading was easier and writing was harder however.

yeah I think that the reading/writing curve could go either way

I’m usually /very/ good at reading and I really struggled with this one, to be honest. I felt that there were a lot of questions where you could justify two answers equally well. I hope the curve is good

Writing I thought was easier than usual (it seemed more focused on grammar/mechanics and cadence, which is less subjective than other types of questions that sometimes come up) and math about the same. I’ve heard people didn’t like the math with calculator – I’m wondering if it was because a lot of the questions had very involved scenarios which required close reading? The math itself didn’t seem harder than the practice tests I’ve taken.

Yeah I definitely agree with augustuscaesar on the writing and reading. In math I think most people would agree that although it was pretty normal for math no-calc, the math calculator section was easier than normal.

So the general consensus is that about two missed questions on the reading would be -10, one missed on writing would be either -10 or -20, one missed on no-calc math would be -10, and one missed on math calc would be either -10 or -20?

I haven’t heard anyone say the math with calculator was easier than they expected – only the same or harder. Although I think predicting the curve is always a tricky business, I suspect reading will be two wrong = -10 and the rest will be one wrong = -10. This is generally what I’ve seen people saying, plus none of the official practice test answers I’ve looked at (four or five out of seven) have had curves where one wrong = -20.
Do they curve math without calculator vs. with calculator differently? I’d intuitively assumed they were the same.

i thought writing was harder than reading tho…

what did u guys get for the question with the answer choice “deformed”, “transformed” in writing?
