I got a 580 in critical reading on the November 8th test. I just have 10 days left till the December exam. I did all the papers in the college board blue book. Can anyone give me advice on what I can do in these last few days to increase my score? (I really need to get more than 680) Will it be possible to score that high the next time?

I think you can definitely get your score up, even if there is very little time left.
I got a 720 in the November SAT which is decent enough, I guess and admittedly, the CR section was hard.
My advice would be to sign up for more tests on the collegeboard website or go for Princeton/Barron’s.
The hardest thing about the CR section is that even if you eliminate answer choices, you are still left with 2 or 3 choices. I find that going back to the passage and re-reading it really helps (I know there isn’t enough time but I have always been a fast reader.) Because the answer is ALWAYS in there, and you seldom have to ‘deduce’ anything.

@Alam96: Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. The thought that the CR question was hard seemed to relieve me a bit :)

just asking, a lot of my friends told me that if there is a big rise in your score in a very short time, the score gets cancelled… this thought is haunting me. Its like even if I do well, there is a chance of my test being cancelled.

In short: if I try and do increase my test score on the December test day, will it get cancelled? I know this may be a silly question, but I just want to be sure.

@Arwa69 I don’t see any reason that your score would get canceled. I’ve improved my Critical Reading scores by 100 points simply by practicing questions and honing my time management skills, you are definitely capable of the same.

@ScienceDaddy: Thank you for telling me this Just one thing, how long did it take you to increase your score by 100? I just have 10 days left… it could give me an idea of how much I can expect to improve
