SAT Critical Reading thread

****tttt! anecdote doesnt have to personal. There goes another raw point

@Seahawks506 I’m pretty sure it was misanthrope and curmudgeon

SC:

stuffed…modest
exacerbate…accelerate
animus
agent on…usurped
misanthrope…curmudgeon
disparities…inequity
*about population of whale (2 blanks)
*plasticity vs. juxtaposition

So far what I remember :(

@seahawk yea it was something like:

A real _______ is contemptuous to everyone, unlike a _________, who grumbles out of habit.

Misanthrope and Curmudgeon fit.

@Upenns do you remember the question for animus? I remember putting acuity for that. I am probably wrong since I didn’t even know what acuity and animus meant but I was able to narrow it down to those two and I guessed from there.

@seahawks yea it should be right, consensus and curmudgeon since a consensus would last out and hold people in contempt while a curmudgeon is a person that is bad tempered and cantankerous would would just grumble and whine about it xD

@Upenns

if what you say are the correct answers, then for that particular area of CR i only miss two xD, yay!

@upenn dang it i got like 2 of those sc wrong i didn’t know what exacerbate meant or animus :confused: i forgot exacerbate from dh.

^ do you mean misanthrope, a mankind hater. lol

I can’t believe I missed the exacerbate one. I thought that was a hard SC for just the 2nd question, usually the 1st and 2nd SC questions are always easy. Either way, I knew what both of them meant, but I thought exacerbate didn’t fit the context for whatever reason.

i thought the reading section was easier than the math which is ironic considering i got a 510 on CR and 650 on math in may.

the whale one was flourish, can’t remember the other one

@SAT100

I did have same situation…
I knew what animus and acuity meant at that time;
I hell don’t know why I chose ACUITY… sharpness… thinking too much…-_-

@seahawks Was it forbearance?

i hope like everyone else they have a generous curve for the reading cause this was my last time ever taking this test. I’m glad I’m done with it and going to college next fall, but then again I got to study for the GREs and other tests :confused: but at least I learned to study better from studying the sat.

No. I think that you remember that from another problem, but it wasn’t the correct answer.

did anyone have experimental reading? i cant seem to remember anything from it

did anyone put down aggravate/truncate for one of the answers?

it was not truncate because the second part was about leaking chemicals.

also- irascibility, brusqueness. yeah?

yeah i got that one

how much do you guys think -3/-4 will be?
