SAT Critical Reading thread

@crispicrunch I put entertaining anecdote for the race car at the beginning of biofuel.

Re the passage about the writer – I went back and forth between the friendship answer and the one about writing – and I think I switched it at the last second to the answer about writing. No idea if that was right.

Also, wasn’t there another question with the answer “unreliable narrator?” And was that the right choice? That’s what I put.

Deep Blue is writing, non experimental. Sry.

What were the questions for the puppetry thing? For one of them I think it asked how would the players react to Americans calling puppetry a “childish” thing. What did you guys put?

does anyone remember a sentence completion with an answer choice “utilitarian”?

also, i had experimental section 3 reading. there was a passage about space and stars and the orbit of planets, and sentence copmletion with the word “luminary”

I put for the childish one that they would consider it inaccurate cause the others were like talking about how they would like it or something like that

That’s what I put re musk (i.e. practical and aesthetic).

pretty sure the musk one was that “it was rare and it served a practical purpose” nowhere in the passage did it specifically say the musk was aesthetic, only the combination of ingredients was.

It also said the musk was common. Do that is wrong. It was aesthetic because it smelt nice

I clearly remember it said musk was a luxury and since it covered the smell of the fish it was practical. it NEVER said it was common.

edit: do you know what aesthetic means lol? something that smells good is not aesthetic idiot.

@thaman was there really an answer choice that said it was rare/pratical purpose? :o

Ya lol, that was the answer choice I put…

i chose common ingredient b/c it seemed like the musk was the most important aspect of the ink thus it had to be in every ink thus it was a common ingredient… anyone following my logic? its not aesthetic though… the musk didnt make it any mellifluous or beautiful; it was practical, but that was it.

We really do need a list of answers we all agree on for CR, I very much like to know which ones I possibly missed.

Lol no it said that the musk was the most important item because it covered up the smell of the fish. Also that It was common. Like in paragraph 2 lol. The luxury items were rare, it was not

so what’s the blasted answer? xD

I put that the musk and all the other ingredients for the ink come fron natural resources

Aesthetic
b. artistic or relating to good taste an aesthetic consideration
Having good smelling ink would be considered good taste no?

can anyone find the actual passage?

Thus I would say practical and aesthetic. It was practical to cover up the fish smell and the resulting smell demonstrated good writing taste:)

cladbury, you just said that it said in the passage that it was common. you seem like you’re contradicting yourself…

How is that contradicting myself. I said nothing about it being uncommon

1I also choose the XXXXXXX from nature for the 2nd Question of the ink one. I am half sure for that cuz I really found the mistakes of other choices.

2Can someone remind me what is the answer for the first question for the ink one. I remember I chose the answer contained the word fragrance

3Also, who can tell me the answer for last question of the house passage. It seems ask you the relationship between the first part and second part of that passage. I forget what I chose, maybe C.

4For the Jordan one, what is the answer for the last question. I am really got crazy with that problem.
